Minimum you are gonna pay for exhaust and headers is $1300-$1500 (. Z tube and Popcharger, about $200. That leaves about $800 left for suspension. You can't really get a good suspension set up with only $800. If it was me, I would hold off on the headers and exhaust and get a kick ass suspension set up.
yea i understand. Nah i havent gotten the exhaust or headers yet, but i want to. I did not know that suspension can add as much as those types of products, but i guess if you say so. I will do my research and see what i can find.

he already has a CAI hexx, scratch the 200 bucks and add them to the 800, which brings him up to a grand. still not enough... yeah man, we're telling you from experience. go with the suspension.

i personally would leave exhaust and headers as one of the last mods i would ever do (unless i went FI). even pulleys have more gains than just headers and exhaust. dont get me wrong, headers and exhaust can prove to be good upgrades, but it will take other upgrades for you to finally see it. fuel upgrades wouldnt be a bad idea since you have a CAI.
Smoke - hey man I don't even read what you post anymore.
Badameng - you guys shouldn't even be hitting 6th. If you guys are reaching the top end of 4th you should be going pretty damn fast, well over 100.
Personally I think your best chance of catching or beating him is to cheat. By this I mean;
1. Jump him off the start.......bribe the guy starting the race to drop the flag a little faster than normal. Should catch your friend napping. Since he's AWD he might easily bog his car down.
2. Use streetable (highway approved) slicks for your rear tires. Man it helps when you can get more traction.

I'm telling you man, unless you get in a turning battle (a track race) with him, you best money is spent getting more traction to the road.
Slicks will cost you maybe $600, but unless you go FI or drastically reduce the weight of the car (really difficult) you aren't going to keep up in a straight line.
(I however do agree with Smokie/Hexx) about doing suspension mods)

Suspension doesn't increase your HP but a stock G gets only about 240hp to the ground out of the available 298hp. Your friend having an AWD has a big advantage there. You wanna try to get as much traction to the ground which is why we are stressing suspension. Whats the point of getting headers and exhaust and test pipes if you have no traction??
Man Hexx that's the beauty of the slick with the stock wheels. His friend will probably completely overlook the tires.
That's different. I thought you were talking about rims and wheels. Shit, I had slicks for my Civic and that alone made a huge difference. I used to spin all the way through 1st and half of second gears. With slicks, I had instant traction and that's when I broke into the 13's.
I'm surprised no one mentioned the MREV. This is probably the best bang for your buck....at least from what I've read from other people here and on driver. I can't give you personal testimony yet....I should be installing mine this weekend.
