remember how i got smoked by the camaro SS a few weeks ago. well i ran into another SS camaro tonight, but this time it wasn't as beefy. at idle it sounded normal, not like that other one that sounded like a monster.
anyway, so its 11:30pm on a big 4 lane street w/ no cars, and i see him driving rather fast, so i pull up next to him at the light and as soon as it turns green i push it just a little to see what he would do. he full throttled and so i decided to run him the next light. we did and we were side by side in 1st, but in 2nd i pulled a half car ahead and in 3rd i was totally ahead. as i hit about 70mph my conscience kicked in and i let off the gas, that was when he pulled ahead and probably took it to 90mph.
we stop at the next light but it was about to turn green so we were both at a 10mph roll or so. light turns green and we both go. he started in front of me on the roll but somehow my 2nd gear kicked in and i was in front of him once again. he pulls up next to me and gives me the thumbs up. then we pull at the next light and he exchanged a few words and i said to him "i know you weren't trying, i know your car is faster. just push it this time"... "he replied i'm tired, i just got off of work, but okay"
the light turns green and we both go. even though this time he seemed much quicker off the line and trying alot harder, i still managed to pull in front by the time i hit 3rd gear and at about 75mph. i then realized we just raced 3 times on the same street and i ought to turn before something bad happens. payback's a bitch
Don't take this the wrong way Alex but somehow I suspect that this wasn't really an SS. I am also wondering what year SS it was. There is no way our G can hang with one of the newer SS's. Either way, nice kill though.
yea its all good man. i'm POSITIVE it was an SS cuz it said SS in the orange/red letters. its probably not one of the newest ones, but its in that generation. maybe 01-02 or something. i don't know, but i looked up the specs and it does 1/4th mile in 13.9... that's totally a drivers race. i thought they would be way faster too, but i guess not. he was pushing it for sure, we had talked before the last run. and buddy6mt, i only have CAI and tein springs (don't think that matters in a straight race).
i'm pretty sure it was the 2nd one. i didn't get a good look from the front, more of the back when i was following him to the light. now that u've shown me both of those pictures, i'm pretty sure it wasn the 2nd one overall

If it was a REAL newer SS and you won with basically a stock G, than either you were a MUCH BETTER driver than the other guy or there was something wrong with his SS.
Stock v. Stock with two good drivers, the SS will win (not by much, but it will win).

lol its all good. I wouldn't tell the story just to get your attention. in fact i've responded to a few others' posts with opposition because of my disbelief. by the way i said it looked like the 2nd one, isn't the 2nd one an older one like a 98-99? that first pic looked like the newer generation to me, but i don't know too much about camaros. and yes it was an SS. it was badged w/ the orange ss on the back, and sounded like a v8 for sure. yes, beefy like the mustang GT. but like i said, he was tired i guess. or maybe i'm just that good?
