Default I Got beat by a...?

So lastnight I pull up to a light next to a SVT Lighting. The guy was real cool. we both had our windows down and i was looking at his truck cause its one of my favorites. I was actually looking that them before the G. So He looked over and said "nice car bro". We had just gotten to the light so we had a good minute to talk and i asked what year his was cause ford changes the engine on the SVT alot. He said an 04. So he asked if the 05 had any difference in the engine so of course that led to "lets race" so as soon as the light turned green i had a great launch and anyone that knows lightings, if you punch it too hard, ur gonna spin em up. Well he spun for a second or so and we were neck and neck in 1st. as soon as i was getting ready to shift into 2nd, he was gaining almost a full carlenth on me and i was shifting quick too. from that point on through 4th gear, he was gaining almost 1 car length per gear. This truck is just MEAN !! i knew he would win but I didn't think by that much! We only got to 4th gear cause of the next light. He pulled up and jsut said nice race and turned. I knew i got beat legit and just gave him a wave... It sucked getting beat but i'd rather it be against that 380hp beast...

Yeah!
I was running about 35 mph and I saw a Lighting coming up from behind, when he got about even with my rear end in the other lane I stomped on the gas. He replied back instantly, coming by me like there was nothing to it...

These trucks are fast enough stock, not even counting all the aftermarket mod’s they have for them as well…

I was watching Top Gear last night and they mentioned something about the Lightening engine having the same engine/internals as the Ford GT. I was needing a pickup.....

Those Lightning's are some mean beast, I don't even think I would try to race one of those, unless it was a road course.

I played with this beast a few months ago on a highway.....

I was driving at around 75mph one night (no traffic), minding my own business, and slowly passed a red SVT. At first, I didn't think about racing but...I slowed down about 2 car lengths in front of him and matched his speed. I just wanted to see if he was gonna go. I didn't have to watch him in my mirror for long, 10 secs max. He punches it, and me already prepared (driving at higher RPMs) hit it a split second later. We went from ~70mph to ~120mph and it was DEAD EVEN.

I know that from a stop, these trucks will win (stock v. stock) but don't be afraid of them on a highway

I too was thinking about getting a Lightening prior to getting my G....ironically, the thing that convinced me not too was gas mileage.....given where prices have gone, man am I happy I didn't get one of those

However, supercharged 5.4 is not to be messed with. Impressive numbers considering how heavy those things are. And, like most FI vehicles, it doesnt take a whole lot to get a lot more performance out of em.

Yea thats true, the performance mods and things you can do is endless... And besides just the power, the handling on them for a pickup with that much power is unbelievable

It's good that you didn't get it. My friend got one last year and that thing is sitting in his garage now. He doesn't even want to start it up, damn thing is always thirsty. And don't even think about goin anywhere when there's snow outside, he couldn't even make it up his driveway last winter.

Snow is not a problem for me (So Cal), but the gas mileage certainly would be

I'm reminded of a car a good friend of mine in High School had. An old Datsun (that's right, Datsun) pickup, prolly a 75 or so, witha Chevy 327 V8 dropped in. Guy had to keep 4 or 5 bags of cement in his bed to give him any traction...but, it was whole lotta fun to drive around in!
