umm...I wouldnt knock ford's motors...they're pretty fvcking stout.

Having owned 7 mustangs now, I can say that OTHER things go wrong on these cars, but the drivetrains are fvcking fun to tweak.

This guy living by me has two mustangs of the 80's generation. I know his daily driver is blown, kinda scary to think what his "special" mustang is like.

Yea, that's the thing...mustangs are such cheap fun. You can pick up a beat to hell 5.0 for less than 3k, then do some cosmetic stuff, swap in some new motor parts, or a stroker kit, and slap a blower on there and run 10s!

Of course, then you're driving a tempermental sh1tbox that probably can't get you to the movie theatre 10 miles away But still, you can impress your friends when it is actually running.

I prefer to think of it as an $8,000 gas powered massage chair. :P

What's a load of BS? That a G35 can beat a Mustang?

Mustangs are no good either way, the only thing some of them are ok at is going in a straight line put em on a course with me any day of the week ill rip its doors off, oh and for the guy saying low 10's come on man get serious those things have 220 hp stock at 2800 pounds compare that to a new C6 witch is 400 hp and a lot newer and better built car and thats runing high 12's.

“Mustangs are no good either way, the only thing some of them are ok at is going in a straight line” That’s a broad statement don't you think? Don’t get me wrong I love my G35 but only for what it is. How many 10sec G35’s are out there? Not many and I would not expect many more to come.

Not all mustangs are junk. My mustang is built for the straight line. It’s also worth a hell of a lot more than my G35. In stock form, I would put money down on mine vs any stock g35 on either a road course or ¼ mile with similar drivers. I would also still bet on mine if both cars had similar upgrades.

Trying to find out how to post pics......

a few days after I got my G, my cousin beat me by not more than a car length in his '98 Mustang GT. He had some bolts on mods - CAI intake, exhaust, short throw shifter, and 3-7-3's gearing.

but that was when I didn't know:

a. shifting my G well enough since it was my first manual car
b. turning off the VDC
c. the sweet spot for when to shift gears (between 5 and 6,000 rpm's)
d. any mods to my car

all I gotta say is that I can't wait to take him on again. payback's gonna be a bitch.

A 98 GT comes with 225hp and 290tq. Your cousin is probably putting down 215-220rwhp with those mods. His 0-60 is about 6sec and the 1/4 mile times would be low 14's. The exhaust makes it sound more impressive than it actually is. A stock 99+ GT with 260hp puts down 225rwhp.

You should have no problem. Remember, the trick to racing is practice. These cars will likely out perform our skills to maximize their potential. I used to spend hours each night for weeks on the interstate at 2am learning to launch my stang until I got it right. The result, 1.8 60ft times on stock tires.

Good Luck.
