Default Grubbs Infiniti Parts-Please help;your opinion

I would like some third party opinions on this subject. Maybe I am being unreasonable?

Grubbs Infiniti has the Drilled Alluminum Pedals for the 5AT at the following:
http://www.infinitiwholesaleparts.com/en_US/

Previous subtotal: $64.98
-5% promotion discount "JULY2004": $3.24
New subtotal: $61.74
Shipping and Handling: $12.34
Sales Tax: $5.09
TOTAL: $79.17

The fact that I bought two new G35 coupes from Grubbs and I live 5 miles from the place in Euless, TX, it does not make much scense to buy them over the internet and have them shipped to me. Grubbs also gave me a card for 10% off parts for the DFW G35 Owners Club. I realize the internet price is already discounted and would not qualify for the 10%.

I thought I should at least be able to buy the parts for $64.98 + Texas sales tax, $70.34 Total.

When I called Grubbs parts, they now claim in order to get the internet price I would have to have them shipped and pay $79.17. If I come in and pick them up, I would still pay the shipping for a total of $79.17 or use my 10% discount card for a total of $77.94 vs the $70.34 I was expecting to pay since Grubbs does not have to ship them anywhere.

I even had this discussion with their parts department before; see the following e-mail. Carvey is no longer there and the new guy, John, says he will not do that. Internet purchase must be shipped and charged shipping.

Does this make scense to anyone why I can not just pick them up at Grubbs?

Sounds like a plan. I am looking for the Infiniti Front End Mask for
the G35 Coupe that on sale.

I will be around that area sometime tomorrow afternoon.

Robert,
That is an option.
Let me know if you decided to do that. I will send you a link with out
the shipping charges.

Carvey

Subject: Local Pickup of parts

Hi Carvey,

Is it an option to pick-up parts locally ordered on
infinitiwholesaleparts.com instead of having them shipped?

Robert

Rob it is entirely possible when they do the web order that Grubbs never sees the parts. It might be shipped out of a central distribution point for Nissan. Grubbs would never have had to pay initial freight to them, plus time to stock & handling parts, etc.

I ordered a Nismo shift knob from Courtesy Nissan in Texas. The knob was eventually shipped (long story) and when I get it, there is a shipping tag from Nissan North America Motorsports in Compton, CA.

It's a promotional price meant to drive people like me, that don't live 5 miles away, to their site, making them a premier national source for all things Infiniti. They want me to buy from them instead of Scottsdale Infiniti.

Wooing you provides no such perk and only cuts into margin.

I think I have just answered my own question. Apparently they have changed there policy since I last bought something with the internet price from Carvey Parker and I just picked it up.

It only cost Grubbs $5.94 to ship UPS ground to CA. $3.00 to ship 5 miles away. Either way, they still charge Shipping and Handling: $12.34 for those parts. So, when the put the internet price of $61.74...it is really not true.

For instance the internet price to CA is really $67.08 + $7.00S&H. They are just making a good profit on the inflated shipping charges.

Somewhat off topic...

I ordered 2 QX1 pearl touch up kits and only received one. There was no mention of anything being on backorder. I shot a them an e-mail last week about it, but haven't heard back from them. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because I'm sure their parts department is busy, but I must say that I am unimpressed so far. Did I mention that I hate Pay Pal?

There parts department is not that busy. I have no problem getting a hold of anyone using their toll free number. Have you tried to call them?
