...but im not sure if the version in the vq35de has variable lift as well. I think it is only on the intake cam as well which is ok, but would be cooler for both cams to be variable.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
I am pretty sure the VQ engine does not have variable lift, but it does ahve the variable timing. So the reason for not having it on both cams is for the fact that one of them is moving while the other needs to remain stationary.

if someone knows specifically the way the G35 variable valve timing works i would love to know.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
I believe it is done possibly by the wayt hey explained the second one with the gears rather than the chain. But im not sure.

I just think it would be cool to change the timing so that you have a very rough idle sometimes just for sound purposes, but i do not know if this is possible with just variably intake timing. someone please fill in the missing details on nissans variable valve timing and what u may know about motec or other engine management systems.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
The G35 timing runs just like every other engine with VVT does and I believe that it does the timing according to the rpm that it is at. Also as far as changing the timing consistantly I am not to sure you can do that, I dont know alot about the MOTEC system and if that allows you to do that, but I dont see why you would want to do that. I think it would become more of an incovience. Could you see someone sitting in your car and your car starts making the same noises a 1960 car does, wont make it look to good. And if you want your car to make noises when you turn it on or when its at idle just rev your engine, duh. So i think that was what you were asking about nissans VVT system whether it is done by a chain or gears, since the rest of the information is int hat article. By the way great find on it!!
