Default The stock exhaust...

Could the stock exhaust be any, well, quieter on these cars? I live in the Los Angeles area and I've driven beside at least four of these things now... and man they just don't make the sound I would expect. My G35 growls more than the stock exhaust on the GTR it would seem...

Is this amazing motor just not working hard until you wind it up? Is everyone just driving it as "show piece"? Boy I hope not... but I'm kind of losing hope that maybe that is the case...

I think this car, being so computerized, needs a bit of exhaust note to really make it appealing for anyone, anytime, any place.

Anyone swapped out their exhaust for Mines or some other brand?

I think I might do this first... and I'm really considering getting one...

The car is a bit loud on startup but within a minute or two the exhaust note calms down. Yes the cars are pretty quite especially under 3,000 rpms or so. I can't tell you what it sounds like on the outside above that rpms, but it does start to get louder at around that engine speed.

the ones i have seen around here even though the exhaust isnt uncanned but for such a "quiet" exhaust.

its pretty loud at the same time if that makes sense.

they are very audible in a muffled/tamed way

but the VQ37 sounds great. growls like crazy, especially the370z's exhaust note

Sorry to jump back into this late... think I know why in SoCal I can't even hear the car... everyone has heard about the transmission failures where, in some cases, Nissan says, "You grenaded it... that will be $20,000 to replace." And/or... it's SoCal and this is the new poser car of choice... hehe

Only seen one "driven in anger"... in Louisville, KY... man, THEN it sounded good.

If I had one, my gas mileage would absolutely be atrocious! Kind of like the G35 that I try to keep at around 3,100 RPMs all the time... hehe

And yes, the 370Z sounds very nice... now if only I could live with the exterior styling since the motor/transmission/interior are all so nice... (sigh)

Transmission failures..........less than 1% of GT-R's. Transmission failures linked to either driver abuse or the solenoid issue.

Issue has to do with breaking 1st gear. PPG replacement parts are under two grand or so. BTW transmission was never $20grand to replace.

I think the G is known for the note and many envy the growl.
