Just a thought. If someone were to purchase one of the first of this car and hardly put it on the street. Do you believe that within the next 10-15 years the car will be considered a collectors classic car?
I'm not sure how limited the production is. But it seems that this car is somewhat of a 'milestone' for nissan. Bringing the GTR to the USA and it gaining the reviews that they expected.
I'm wondering if a mint, super low mile version of the car would be worth well above the 71k price tag in the future?
I know what you mean, it's definitely a dream car to both drive and awe at.
I ragg the shit out of my '05 G35 6mt. But honestly i think this car is so sweet that I would love to have it as a collectors car. I would definately gain my fun from it, but i would treat it like a friend of mine treats his Ford GT, he drives it every other sunday sometimes only once a month. Help keeps that feeling you have when you first step into your car.
There's a mazda dealer around here who has a mint last year produced RX-7 with about 6k miles on it, and that thing is basically not for sale. They're asking something like 50-60k for it, can you believe that? And it's an ugly forest green and automatic.
Anyone here have experience with car collections? I wonder if last year produced or first year produced has more of a value... probably the latter... but i think in the case of the GT-R it might go well both ways.
doesnt matter about the miles really, just keep it. b/c it will prolly be a car that you will regret getting rid of in 10 years.
thats one of the reasons why i went ahead and got the G35 eventhough i want to G37 still.
the G35 is the first offical skyline in the states and i wanted it as a collectors plus i wanted to but didnt want to at the same time, wait to see the Changes and improvements made to the G37 before getting one.
^^^There are production numbers on the GT-R available in the press if you run a search. I forgot what it was.
I am not sure if they will be collectibles to the extent a Ferrari will, or say a 60's muscle car will. If it does I think you'll need to keep it until 2039 before it really starts paying out.

I tried to find the production numbers on here but couldn't.
But i did see the order numbers for japan. And they're not small... so i guess like you said, someone keeps it at almost zero miles for a long long time it probably won't be such a collectable.
I really think they should limit the shit out of the production, but then again they gotta make back all that money they spent on R&D.
nah! there are R32, 33 and 34's over here now which are much more rare than the new GTR will be... and i don't think anyone considers them collector cars.

The GT-R is made on a jig, that in itself reduces how many can be produced per year. I forget if it was something like 1,000 units per month. Definitely yes, they cannot reduce supply to make up their R&D unless they jack up the price into supercar territory and that is not what Ghosn was intending to do through this whole exercise.
