    Unless you have an extended warranty, a motor replacement would cost you out of pocket. So it depends on who is paying for a replacement motor. If you're paying, hope the oil consumption test fails, but if there is a warranty, I would insist thy follow the Infiniti TSB guide for an oil consumption test.

    Hi Gilley,

    saw your posts in oil consumption threads and that's why sending you this question.

    I took my 05 g35x 5AT to the dealer for oil consumption test. service advisor said he will do a oil change and thereafter have me come over to check oil level. But he did say he will use a thicker oil 10w30 or 10w40. I have always used 5w30 in my car and it is with this oil that I have seen oil consumption. I am afraid the thicker oil will not burn as much and I may not qualify for a motor replacement. you think i should be worried?
