Default BMW M2

Was on the way to get a haircut yesterday when I noticed a BMW close behind me. The front end seemed somewhat different in it's appearance. Could tell he wanted me to step on the gas, however the traffic was too thick to even imagine doing that kind of foolishness. When I made a turn on to another road he came by me and I saw two sets of twin tail pipes and an emblem that read M2 on the rear end. I thought this vehicle was still on the drawing board. Does anybody have any additional info on this model?

It would be nice to see reasonably priced 1 and 2 series BMW on the US roads. I wouldn't mind seeing Audi A3 (which is coming soon) or even Audi A2. There are plenty of nice looking and fun to drive cars on the streets of Europe that I wish I can see here ..... Golf 5 (2006 GTI in the US) , the new Opel Astra , Opel Tigra and .... oh, I love those ... Peugeot 307 and 407

The first link is a lot like what I saw, except it was white. Must of been the 300hp because of the tire and wheel package and exhaust tips. Still cannot believe I saw this car in this in the Houston area already.
