Sorta related, I was in the UK a year ago and I saw a police officer standing next to a police-marked Focus ZX3-like hatchback. I started to laugh, then the cop jumped into the Focus, started it up and shot off down the road.

...and I mean *shot*. I hear the tell-tale "whoosh" of a turbo pulling in air and I realize it's one of the rally-adapted Focuses that is available only in Europe. AWD, Turbo w/near 300HP, ~3000lbs. Nothing to laugh at, for sure...

The engines awesome, but the exterior is f&cking hideous.

Isn't there an article about this in the new Car and Driver? I think they took a ZX3 (RS is no longer for sale) and put all the same mods on it for cheaper than the RS8 ... I think

Same reason there are 400+ hp Saturns and Hyundai I guess ... I dunno why but I'm sure it makes sense in their demented heads

Ohhhh when can I get a 400+ Saturn. I would put some spinner hubcaps and dice on the rearview mirror!

I just don't get that one at all. WHY??? One could buy an average G35, lavish $25,000 on it, and the result would be a far nicer car that would tromp the V-8 Focus, look far better, and oh yeah, you'd still have $30-something-thousand left over. The only scenario in which this car would make sense would be to satisfy a wealthy person's lust for Ford Foci. How many wealthy individuals lust after a Ford Focus?????

I would do it just to see the looks on peoples' faces when they get beaten by a Focus. And the smoke from the tires would be coming from the wrong wheels too hehe...
