My buddy loves audi's and was looking into getting an Rs4 if he could find a decent chip for it.

OCT Tuning Stage 2 ECU Flash 420 HP to 427 HP Audi RS4 B7 4.2 V8 06-08

that's unusual. maybe for the RS4, i'm not very familiar with them. on my A4 most any chip would take it from 170hp to 215-220hp. 1.8t.

the RS4 is basically a tuned S4 though right? same 4.2L NA engine. it is probably hard to squeeze more HP out of the ECU.

is easy to have a chip get big gains from a FI engine like the 335i...not a tuned out small block V8. But hp...for 1800, that is hilarous.

that is ridiculous. but then again im sure there are plenty who buy it. it's hard from what i hear to get any gains without going FI so I guess 7 hp might be a big deal to some who want to stay NA.

seems like you would get more hp out of a CAI...and it will only cost you a few hundred.

you have to remember an S4 has something like 340 hp and the RS4 with the same engine has 420 hp so you can see they've squeezed A LOT more hp out of that engine without FI... it does make sense that a chip will not do a whole lot since in essence they've already tweaked the ECU.

i completely agree. im just laughing at the idiots that would spend that kind of money for basically nothing. those are the kind of gains you will not notice.

no i understand why the chip doesnt get high hp ratings....im just wondering why anyone would pay $1189 for it!

while i agree with you and i would not pay that kind of money for 7 hp, we all know there are plenty of exhausts out there that cost the same or more and gain no more than 10 hp...

the next RS4 is said to be a supercharged 6 banger.....so it is likely that they did not want to make another V8 to get better gains from, or put their current POS V10 from the S6 in there

i am not sure which SC'd V6 this is. there are vids of the TT-RS with that same engine and it sounds mean and it looks pretty damn fast. it must be an all new engine. many in the audi world prefer the older TT'd S4's anyhow.

the SC'd 3.2 makes just a little less hp than the 4.2 v8 but has more torque. i think this was probably a good move for them.
