If the car is delivered as stated on paper, I'd buy one.
If this car is as delivered...then i will be forgoing the benz i have on order. If these numbers hold true we will be able to get a "Carrera S" for 35k instead of 90k.

would that then make it a poor man's porsche ????????????
Well I wouldn't jump the gun and call it a Carrera S yet, but if it releases is promised I'd buy one for sure as a weekend car and mod it.
The article also said that the price will increase, but I'm sure it won't be too much above what it is now with a top notch 350Z already pushing $40k. 3000~ lbs and 350hp it's supposed to do 0 to 60 in the high 4's and 1/4 in the low 13's. For $45k that car would be a bargain.

"sounds" like it's gonna be a piece of art. but then G37 sounded like the nicest thing ever until we got #'s. not trying to bash the car or anything, but let's wait and see, it sure is promising

maybe more Cayman S than Carrera S...it helps having the engine at the rear where your tires are spinning...997 Carrera Ss are quite fast for 'only' having 355hp...

A carrera S runs a 13.0 quarter...a cayman S runs a high 13. 07+ 350Z's run 13.4-.6's. Cayman S's are already in the rear view mirror.
But once the road get's a little twisty, the Cayman S will run away from any Z. They don't call the Cayman one of the best handling cars in the world for nothing.

I dont care how it handles...carrera's cayman's and boxster's are underpowered overpriced pieces of shit.
Never forget when i went to Mid Ohio to watch some SCCA racing...the carrera could handle awesome but never could finish a lap better than the C6 corvette...just too much power in the straights. Accceleration is impressive...handling is nice.
An M3 would out handle my CLK and any M5 would out handle my E55 i'll readily admit that...but thats tough to prove going down the highway when they are in my rear view mirror.
i'm sure Cayman S owners who frequent the 1/4 track have gotten them down at least a tenth or 2 better...i don't understand, they are not what i call slow cars...
we just don't see too many porsche drivers hit the track with the tree light as opposed to the circuit...
