I do understand where ur coming from though poormans, a car marker should stand by their product and they shouldn't introduce technology that they could have problems.I guess the 745 is a brimming example of that. I actually do know a few 745 owners who were extremely pissed off by how many times they had to take it in to the shop for this and that. Luckily the 750 ironed out alot of the problems, but I am worried what will happen when the warranty is over and im sure a car with this much crap it in will start breaking down. Im thinking as soon as the warranty is over, better just sell the car.

I don't ever plan on keeping a car beyond it's warranty so I've never really thought aobut the problems you guys are referring to, but I can relate that Bimmers can be a problem if you keep it beyong warranty. I just don't think it's a great idea to keep any car beyond the warranty. Unless you buy a Hyundai with the 10yr/100k miles thing.

I'm still a sucker for the looks of the E38 body (can't stand the "Bangle Butt" on the newer ones) so I'm in a bit of a conflict with myself there as far as ridding myself of these maintenance whores. As to maintaining them out of warranty, I can tell you that it's not just the fact that they break that's so irritating, but the ridiculously over-complicated R&R procedures required to fix the shit that breaks and makes the labor costs go through the roof. Needless to say, parts costs are absurd and EVERYTHING has a sensor or three associated with it so there's always the recoding and recalibrating and so on.
I always imagined that BMW design engineers must have had a bitter, seething, and contemptuous distain for their 'brothers', the service technicians. The utter obsurdity of the inaccessablity for routine maintenance items is laughable (if you're not paying for it). On my 750iL, I was recently quoted over 7 hours of labor required to R&R just the rear shocks; 5 hours of that was to R&R the reclining rear seats, the c-pillar mouldings and lights, entire rear deck, speaker assembly beneath the deck, etc....just to get access to the upper shock tower bolts!!!!!! What's more, they can't guarantee that this is even going to fix the problem...I finally got them to admit they were "shotgunning"....could still be the EDC computer is flakey.
Oh shit, I've run off again. So sorry!
SO...yah, I'd recommend against ever owning a BMW out of warranty.
^^^ It's a 1995 Zooms, kinda late at this point, plus I'm the 2nd owner; picked it up with 12k miles a couple years ago. Also, as I've come to learn, this is really SOP for all these beasts, not just mine. I love it though, when the dealer tries to pull the "well if you can't afford to own the car" bullsh*t. It's just sickening though because this was their $100K flagship model when it was new in '95 ! Black on black, she IS a gorgeous whore!
I hear ya. Bimmer has really taken a turn for the worse with the new 7. I know they've improved a bit since the release, but you won't find me in one. Good luck with yours.

it looked like a cheap piece of crap. Very bad for BMW to stoop to making such a terrible cheap looking car...this car is the equivilent to that 2 door hatch C class mercedes used to make.

although it was way underpowered I liked the look of it with bigger wheels and a drop.
I have seen a few of them with M motor swaps that solved the power issue too..
