Hey poormansporsche, what was the last model 7 series you had? My dad has a 750 Li and just like zooms said, the maintenance has a been great for me. Anything that looked faded or about to go, BMW took care of it no problem.

And again, i dont justify the price hikes, but it is nice that they do offer complete coverage on the car when other makers dont, but charge around the same price for their cars.

Dont think so, my sister has a 2006 slk 350 and they only covered her first service an oil change, after that, we were on our own.

As of '06 MB and Audi has both dropped their no-cost maintenance programs. Funny thing is they didn't respectively lower their MSRP prices. Food for thought.

At my job 3 years ago both owners had 750's. They were in the shop so much that they drove the loaner cars more than the actual cars themselves. The running joke at the office was 'Who had their car out of the shop this week'. Yes all of the work was covered but it was more of an inconvience thing...

the moral of this story is to only buy AMG Mercedes. Anything else you should just drive into a wall...

I have always said that i think that Mercedes Benz's aren't that great of cars. Until very recently they haven't had attractive models that weren't AMG's. AMG's are a whole different game.

One thing i will give to BMW..they do build nice looking fast cars that are not M's...although neither M or regular BMW's can go more than 40k miles.

it depends on what kind of flatbed they are on. Some nice flatbeds will go over 200k...

I think u mean they owned 745s since the 750 was released by late 05? I will admit the 7 series has a few problems, but alot of them were ironed out with the introduction of the 750. I havent experienced any huge problems with this car, cept for some software issues( which BMW said they are working to fix), but we don't drive it that much, mostly a weekend car since my dad doesnt like taking it to work.

Down here you have no choice. BMW and most of the "premier" dealerships are owned by a single entity. 2 BMW dealers - same guys. 2 Lexus dealerships - both SERVCO. 1 Infiniti. 1 Mercedes, etc.......

Trouble is I know two people personally who had BMW's and got chased off due to the (lack of) service. I have one friend who is still pro-BMW, but he's been into M3's ever since we got torched when he was driving me home one day.

All of the 7's I've owned are have been E38's. The two I still have are a 2000 740i Sport, and a 1995 750iL (the V-12 beast with 38k original miles and a story all unto itself). The 740i was bought new with a 7/100 extended warranty. Paid $1500 for that warranty; by the time the warranty expired, it had paid out OVER $11,500 in claims...actual claim costs were even higher than that because the original factory warranty covered all the claims for the first 3 yrs, but then I had to copay the deductables and pay the differences for "excessive" labor costs once the extended kicked in...don't get me started!

The E65 745's that came out in 2002 were supposed to be even worse than the E38's. I have heard that the 750li have improved considerably....nonetheless, maintenance issues, covered or not, are simply unaccepable to me for the prices they are charging for these cars...PERIOD!

I cringe every time I see the amount of electrical bullsh*t BMW has brought down from their higher line cars and are now stuffing into ALL their cars. That's the very crap that breaks and costs $$$$ to fix. Here's a little FYI for y'all, you probably all know that currently BMW offers a factory extended warranty on their new and cpo vehicles for maximum of 6 years/100k miles(no you can't get 7 years), but... did you know that this warranty doesnt cover the audio system, nav system, I-Drive system, various sensor systems throughout the car, and a great deal of the supension system(not talking shocks here).

The dealers are quite up front about suggesting customers buy a 3rd party warranty if they want more coverage. This seems nearly unethical to me, as BMW knows their cars fully well and therefore knows pretty much exactly what's gonna break...and then excludes it from their warranty coverage...brilliant!..extremely profitable too!...I should be a shareholder and not a driver LOL.

Oh well, as I've said before...all this ranting gets boring pretty quickly so I'll just shut up now and stuff it all back down into that burning acid-filled pit reserved just for it in the very bottom of my gut!

Have a nice day now!
