last I took a 996 911 turbo was at streets of willow 5 years ago (pre 997s). I thought it was just heavenly and thought to myself that if I could ever afford one that I'd jump on it. there was just so much grip i felt my eye balls were going to be sucked inthe back of my head. it's fast but by no means a drag car or a freeway puller (i've ridden, not driven, in modded supras on the freeway where it felt much, much faster). but i found it was so well rounded and handled so well that the impression is still left with me up to this day.time has gone by and i'd almost forgotten about it until jumping on a porsche forum and finding these gems at are now selling at 47K to 59K...what the heck?? so doing some reseach i find they do not suffer form the usual 996 RMS issue but the earlier ones do have the 2nd gear pop out.... just a flash/chip and exhaust are netting them decent power..
i'm sorry, i'm rambling...i feel like i just met that HS chick I wanted to bone and now feel I have the balls to try and do it...LOL
I'm with you there.... test drove one about a year and a half ago and was interested in buying.... didn't feeling like putting up the 63-69k at the time... but they are almost reasonably priced now. They are beautiful cars.

Undoubtedly a Turbo is the worlds best sports car...there is no substitute.
There's a lady with a silver 2004 Turbo S with nearly 80k and a few dings that she drives as a daily driver....through snow, rain, whatever. I Love it!

has she mentioned any troubles with it? been researching on the porsche forums and they seem to be rock sold cars even at high mileage...it's almost too good to be true
well... there is some seal issues on some. Don't know how the problem has been lately. I saw a guy who had 230,000 miles on his.. It was his daily driver. Pretty sweet.

996's in general some of the best bargains out there. For mulitple reasons the 996's were never well received by the general Porschepilles. So you can easily find some awsome deals on 996's. From what I can gauge it was mostly due to the styling that made most 996's unpopular. Bad for Porsche good for you! Oh, you can also spend some $$$ and totally upgrade the 996's into 997's quite easily if you have the $$$ and the inclination. Good luck.

No probelms whatsoever...just expensive when she has to get those ceramic brakes replaced.
the 996 was not popular with porsche fanatics because of its styling but more so because it was a the first water cooled Turbo...a big diversion from their history.
Put some staggered 20's on that Turbo and all the cosmetic issues are gone.
