wait a minute... i thought mitsubishi finally ended their ties with chrysler?

anyway, i had a 96 GS-T, very nice, very sweet car for the time. but it's reliability was the biggest issue. it's not the DSM motor that was the problem, it was everything else about the car. i could write a list as long as a grocery shopping list of all the BS i had to change on that car.

all that being said, i really felt bad when i saw someone else riding away in it

i had an 00 montero sport 4wd. i loved that truck. it was just an extra vehicle, but i actually liked driving it more than the 98 integra i had at the same time. ever since that era, everything they have put out has been crap. all of the SUVs are so ugly. the newer eclipses (2000+) are worthless when it comes to the aftermarket. i remember when the 00 eclipse came out, they were debating between a turbo 4 and a 6... they went with the 6 due to reliability issues on the turbo'd eclipses before. i think it was a bad move. the styling also went to crap. back in 02 there were a lot of rumors swirling that they'd be out of business in less than 10 years. i think they rebounded a little, but now are getting market shares from hyundai and kia instead of honda, nissan and toyota.
Yes, sorry, meant the '97 GS-T with the big ass wing on the back, and I in the newer models ('00+ later) I believe the opted for the 6 specifically for cost reasons. I would've killed for a '99 GS-X (last year for the 2nd gen Eclipse) but was upside down in my lease at the time. I was told at the time when I bought my '97 GS-T, Mitsubishi offered either 2 or 3 different engines in the Eclipse, 1-2 build by Chrysler which had larger displacement and 1 built by Mitsubishi which had smaller displacement but offered the turbo option on it.

Well all those nice ass $40k+ cars (3000GT, 300ZX, Supra, RX-7) stopped being imported to the US in the mid-90's due to lack of sales, and the new market demand for the SUV. I sure miss all those cars.
