The GT3 beat the Z06 by 3 seconds on a track that took them about 7 mins and 40 secs to get around......man that german engineering is really worth that extra 100k. My Z06 has headers and exhaust ($1300) with an extra 40hp...i'd make up those 3 secs

no the totally package is worth it. while the Z06 is a bad ass car. I couldnt live with it everyday.
like i said. if i wanted brute force i'd get me a 1000hp skyline. or a mine's skyline
lol....then you have definitely never been in a GT3....no air conditionioning (until this years model as an option), the stiffest suspension available, harness seat belts, and racing seats that are only built for those under 170lbs....this car is basically a street legal race track car. Not to mention NO luxury items or nice interior detailing...all that adds weight

yeah but i never said id take a GT3 over the ZR1. if it came down to brute force i would rather have a GT-R with a Mine's tune or a 1000hp skyline over ZR-1, but being close to the price of a 911 Turbo. if the choice was between the 911 and the ZR-1
the only way you could get me in a vette is if it was given to me

most cars have their draw backs
BMW's are unreliable
Vette's are american hilljack
MB AMG's are autos
etc etc
Virtually the only car that doesnt have any drawbacks are the high end porsches
I agree with what looksfast said earlier about buying a status symbol. When you get in that price range, $100K+, you are looking for the name. Unless they are car nuts, most people are going to say, "You paid $100K for a Vette?!? What are you nuts?!?"
Perfect example, the VW Phaeton. People did not want a $90K VW.
well, most people would not buy a $100k vette. that's why it's going to be such a limited production vehicle. but some will, most especially the very wealthy and collectors. it's something special to have and will mean more to some people than a ferrari. i'm not talking the guy that has worked his whole life to buy a supercar, i'm talking the guy that has everything else already. a vette that will whoop on his $150k+ exotics will be a real prize.
as far as the comment that the typical vette buyer earns 50-60k per year, that's way off. people generally buy vehicles that are half or less of their yearly income.
i fall into the above bracket and i sure wouldn't want a brand new vette payment. even if i could swing it, it'd be tight.

yep. and a lot of the older elite are not going to be interested in a japanese car, regardless of its performance on the burg. you'd be surprised how many wealthy folks will only buy american, even as their companies are outsourcing to tawain and india... i think the zr1 is a great concept.

talking about the gtr....arn't they supposed to not be tunable...? or at least nissan is trying for that.... so we shouldn't compare a tuned gtr in any of these comparos just to make it fair

they are tunable. Nissan just put a very difficult encryption on car to make it to where people cant. your average joe isnt going to be able to decrypt the car with out breaking it pretty much.
but Tuners like Mine's and Topspeed will mos def be able to hack into the system without messing up the car
