Default Skyline

Lastnight this guy from Japan was telling me that skylines are nothing like the G35. He said the skyline is way faster, and can cost around $100,000. I know there faster because of the twin turbo. They have a 2.2 engine? He didn't really seem to know that they look alike either. Is there a website that shows a 2003 skyline, and has all the specs on it?

He's talking about the Skyline GT-R's. All his info is correct. R-34 is the latest Skyline GT-R model. I believe it has a 2.5 liter engine (RB25DETT). They look totaly different. One (R-34) is a AWD TT Supercar, and ours (G/V35) are just regular cars.
this is what the R-34 Skyline GT-R looks like (same car in 2f2f)

all this talk of the "new" GT-R coming to the US - That car is what will be the next generation of this R-34.

I believe you were thinking of a 2.6 liter (RB26DETT) ~twin turbo 2.6 liter inline-4 engine~

I really hope the new Skyline GT-R comes to the US as an Infiniti model. It should be amazing with a FI VQ engine. I hope they make a RWD model so that the car can handle without the the inhibitions of an AWD or 4WD system.

Actually, as I understand it, the AWD system Infiniti uses acts as a RWD except when it registers slip. In that case the only down side I can think of is the extra weight.

You guys are idiots. AED and 4WD are the same thing, and the skyline engine is a 2.6 liter twin turbo inline 6. not 2.5 liter, not a 4 cylinder. And when they make tyhe next GT-R we wont be able to buy them in the U.S. or Canada, and they will be a single turbo. Now that that's done, can anyone tell me where I can find an article for a skyline with a G35 engine swap? I know thier doing them in japan.

GISO needs to get a life! He calls folks idiots then asks them for help on a topic. A blooming idiot would only do something like that Gard.

I'll assume your typing skills aren't much better than your interpersonal skills and in fact you mean AWD.

In that case, no, they aren't the same. 4WD is a user engaged, part time system by definition as is common in SUVs and is intended only for towing and off road situations. AWD is a full time system intended to aid in safety, predominantly, by reducing the likelihood of a car loosing control due to traction slipping.
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/four-wheel-drive.htm

The ratio of power distribution varries between AWD systems further. For example, Subaru puts 90% of the power to the front wheels and 10% to the rear until a slip occurs. Nissan's system in the GT-R distributes all of it to the rear until it registers a slip. Some system break it up evenly between the two, like Audi's Quattro. A 20/80 split favoring the rears is common as well.

<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">and the skyline engine is a 2.6 liter twin turbo inline 6. not 2.5 liter, not a 4 cylinder.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

Correct.

Nissan themselves have more or less stated the contrary at trade shows and the like when they've demoed the prototype car. That's why it's getting so much press here. It will be the first GT-R you can purchase in the states without importing one yourself.

<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">and they will be a single turbo.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

I've seen rumors of everything from an NA V8 to a SC to a twin to a single so unless you can back that up, I'm inclined to think you're full of shit.

Yes, we are. We also spell correctly and know what we are talking about. We also don't speak on subjects unless we know a lot about them. So unlike you, who follows none of these practices, WE ARE IDIOTS.

Now to follow suit with your ignorant insults... you are a stupid head.[:O]

And all along I thought an AED was an Automatic External Defibrillator. Now I find out it is the same thing as a 4WD. Kind of neat to find out the county wanted to buy 4WD to put in the back of the Crown Vics.

You can already buy the skyline in the US. It's the G35. The Skyline GT-R is another matter; is that what you meant?

You know what I drive. Pictures.
