I did a search and could only find pics of some AMG's with them. I just think they look out of place. Kind of unnatural if that makes sense. I'd say they'd look okay on a black vehicle but not one where there would be a large contrast from body color to lights. It reminds me of the days when people put those big plastic headlight covers on their cars in the 90's...and knight rider.
So I take it that you don't like tinted windows either
I think the AMG pic posted looks nice because its subtle, and not very noticable IMO. It looks like the reverse lamp was left uncovered, which I think is key to maintain an upscale look. I don't care for the Gallardo overlays at all, it doesn't flow well with the rear layout. It screams "look! I tinted my taillights!" The Porsche isn't half bad and i think being a black car makes a big difference.
I like tinted windows, but If you're insinuatinga comparison between the contrast of an overlay and the contrast of tinted windows I don't think its an apples to apples comparison. Not a fan of black rims either. Very few rim styles/car combinations can pull it off well, but plenty of cats out there love em.
i like the reverse light left clear too... if you look at the yellow murcielago, there is a small pic below it of a bmw 7 series with the reverse part left clear... i really like that. but it's not possible to do that on all cars without having it look silly. i think the complete black out still looks nice.

Yeah he was going to cut out the the part that covers the reverse lights so they would be clear, but I told him not to and to just cover the whole tailight.
I think it looks better if the reverse light is tinted on the G37's
Hey man, nice tints. I love the look of the overlays. I did the same to my G35 about two years back. Did you get it done at StickerCity? They did pretty good work and not too expensive. My G is diamond graphite, so gray as well. I think the contrast between the black tint and the gray color works beautifully together. Better than just having red taillights at least.

got my tints done first accross the street then went back a month later and got the overlays
the one for the headlights is a new overlay
but I got to go back because the passenger headlight overlay has acouple bubbles that wont go away.
Thanks man

Got my tints done across from Stickercity as well, i think its called Sunshine something or other.
Bubbles are damn annoying, but its cool they will take care for free.
20% on Drivers and Passanger side windows
20% on two small back windows
5% on back window
50% on windshield
Headlight and Tailight overlays
Love the ride Dan, really sweet.
I'm waiting till 09' maybe the sedan I'll have to see.
Where did you get the work done and how much does it effect the
output of the light source? Does the cool look of the overlay
defeat the benefit of the HID?
Thanks.
Cary
