1. They do not know how to drive an MT
2. They do not want to learn how to drive an MT
3. They are lazy to drive an MT
4. Parents will not buy them an MT
5. Other random excuses here
thats funny because i really wanted an auto for my first car but my parents forced me to get a manual 'just in case i ever needed to drive someone else's car'... glad they did.

My wife used to drive a school bus. 66 passenger. 4 speed transmission with 2 speed rear axle. She liked it.
One year, in an attempt to attract housewives to become drivers, the bus company switched to automatics. Wife was NOT happy.
with the G35c anyhow, the 6MT is more of a trim level than just a tranny. typically an auto will cost more and hold it's value better... it's the opposite for the coupe.

Actually, as far as traffic goes, I'm in Orlando FL. Anyone that says they'd prefer an auto in traffic or that the G 6mt has a rough takeoff doesn't know how to drive manual (which gets more and more clear the closer you get to UCF...they love to amplify the evidence of their poor shifting with massive fartcans). I definitly LOVE the control I have in traffic w/ my manual. The ability to fully control the speed on several levels is really nice. (anyone that's been here on vacation, which seems to be EVERYONE IN AMERICA, knows how terrible the driving is here...it's all of america's worst drivers all on one section of interstate 4) Its just refreshing to drive this car, I love it. With a few weeks of practice you should be in full control of that clutch. No little hops into gears, no overrevving to get there, and better downshifting than auto (into the right gears at the right times too, unlike the awful downshift-happy infiniti auto). Practice double clutching and clutchless shifting so you get a feel for what rev you always need to be in, then when you're used to hitting that and you do it WITH the clutch it'll be a shift thats indistinguishable from the highest-end automatics. Burn up a few tanks of gas learning it, it's worth it (if for no other reason than taming the drive while you're on a date ).
This isn't a good car choice for people to learn on though. It seems designed for people that grew up on manuals and aren't going to have an issue learning her idiosyncrasies. No one shifts perfect every time though.

its obvious that people buy more auto tranny than manual tranny here in united states because THEY LIKE TO PUT IT ON " D " AND GO. but if u go to europe, i heard there's more MT than auto. nowadays automatic trannys come in 6 gears just like MT but that doesn't mean its same =D
