G37- One member said it best when they said it looks like a mid platform body tweak rather than a new body style all together. The power is less than impressive and with the even higher compression ratio..it leaves extremely little room for NA mods. If they bump the price up past the 40k dollar range, which has been rumored, this car simply wont sell...that is treading into the 335i territory and WAY to close to the corvette territory. With the GT 500 Shelby, Challenger and Camaro coming out offering 400+hp at 35-43k the G cant compete. The car just doesnt look mean enough, and its sad because infiniti is going after a yonger buyer with the G37, so their marketing says.
The Z...if anyone has seen the 07 has that godforsaken hood bulge like the new M3. Its spy shots are even uglier than the G and now it is looking like it will have the same 3.7litre...370Z i guess.
I hate to admit it cause i hate these cars but Audi and BMW are making beauitful models and actually arent that far off from the mid 40's. Their dependability still is in question but they are now having great initial warranties...lasting 60k miles. Nissan Co. is going to have to start using forced induction to compete. I feel like Nissan is starting to lag.
no it's FUGLY man. the old one used to have 2 lines on the hood, but this one is plain with a HUMP!
screw that man, it's ugly, this is a Z not a 1985 IROC camaro (hey superdude... remember sweet sweet IROC that beats the cops?)
I must agree. Although I am little relieved- now my decision as to whether to buy an 05/06/07 versus the 08 is easy! Right now I can spot an 05/06/07 on the road from literally a quarter a mile away in heavy traffic. There is no other car out there that looks like it, from a body style and stance perspective. Even my wife can recognize it from a great distance. Now, the 08 coupe is (like was posted earlier) a two-door-less version of the sedan. Sure you get a bump in HP, but I would rather the HP stayed the same and the torque increased. After all, that is what you FEEL in the car. And when you compare the 07 vs the 08 body styles, the older one looks much more aggressive in the front, the read deck looks lower, the roof line at the A pillar is certainly lower, and overall has a much better aerodynamic look. I guess I just hope enough people like the 08 so that the prices of the currently new 07s plummet, and allow me to pick one up for $32K-$33K (with options). It is sad, though- Nissan had an opportunity to make this 08 coupe stand out from the sedan judging from the concept pics- but really fell short.

I think you make some good points. Here's my take on it though, if the G37 goes into the 40+ territory then yes we are getting close to Corvette territory, 335, etc. Yes those other cars are faster than the G but it's not always about 0-60. If I wanted the best bang for the buck then I would've bought an STi or Evo. This car is much more luxurious than those and not everyone wants a stiff ride and would rather had the creature comforts. It's a slightly different niche. In the end though I agree that if Infiniti looses the "affordable luxury" advantage then it'll be way behind the game. Also, yeah the G35/37 is aimed at a younger crowd but they don't want to scare off the more adult crowd who can more easily afford the car.
No comment on the Z bulge.

I'm not a fan of the hood bulge on the new Z or the looks of the new G37 either. The interior of the G37 is sweet though. Maybe Greddy will come out with a nice body kit for the G37 to make it look better.

+1 you furthered my points. I do understand that it isnt always have speed though thats true. I am personally just sick of having to put 5k+ into a car for it to look and run like i want it to. BMW has great looking wheels and stances on their cars, very little wheel gap. I have to spend 3k to get my G like that. Although a G lowered on 20" axis matrix (staggered) is way better looking than any BMW.

Another thing you have to remember though, is not everybody mods their cars...

Being an owner of the older coupe, the new coupe is very disappointing. All in all it comes down to the looks when I bought this car and the new coupe just doesn't have it.

I thought this at first too, the back is awkward looking, but I do really like the front. I kind of wish they would have been a little more orginal though because it looks like a G/M Sedan and I think the distinguished appearance of the coupe added to the allure of it. Let's see the sport/6MT model before any judgements are made.

i keep looking at the rear of the 335 (with the exhaust that they forgot to design) and the IS350 every morning. it makes me feel better about the new G. But for some reason i keep thinking im looking at a M's rear. I cant find what's similar exactly but i can just see the M in it
