Default front license plate

My 6mt came with a dealer installed front license plate, I took it off and it really makes a difference in the look of the front end. In my area of so.cal. they don't make a big deal about the front end plate. I'm kind of bumped though that the dealer made screw holes in the front end. I will try to find some crome capped screws to place there.

Did any of you have the same situation? When I bought my Lexus rx330, they gave me the option of having the front plates installed.

They require front plates here in Hawaii and the police have been cracking down on it lately. Unfortunately my car was already drilled when I bought it.

I wish they wouldn't have done that, I would have picked up the Stillen front plate adapter and gone without the two holes in my bumper.

An alternative to capped screws are plugs. Look around the fastener section in your local hardware store, there could be some other options available than capped screws.

i have a plastic painted piece that goes in place of the plate.
it looks just like this one in the picture. mine came with the plate installed but the cover was in the trunk, it still has the protective plastic on it.

Default Liscense Plate

My 2005 front bumper has only a smal square pop out section where it appears I can install a plate if I wish. The dealer left the plat attchment piece in my trunk still wraped in plastic. I agree, I think it looks better without. If a COP doesn't like it I will inform him/her that there is no option to do that. Oh well.

That's no defense. He'll probably look at the license-plate shaped panel on the front and ticket you anyway.,

Fortunately the 2005 G35 doesn't have that area on the front bumper. It's completly smooth. We'll see how my theory works. I will let you all know if I have any problems. Most of the time the cops are behind you and looking at the back.

same here. there was only one black 6mt left on the lot and it had the front plate on with the holes pre-drilled. it kinda pissed me off too, but what can you do....i've learned to live with it. all the while i thought i was the only one that had holes drilled into my bumper for the plates...g-princess, dizz, vin diesel, jkd, and most everyone else don't have holes drilled in...i used to be the only one...until i read this lol

They drill 100% of the cars down here.

I seems that Nizmo lucked out, I too placed the square cap in there and I'm leaving the front plate off, I just need to find something to place in the holes--it would be cool if I had some screw caps painted to match my Lakeshore blue.

If you haven't bought your G yet, make a point to the dealer you don't want holes drilled, they may hook you up.

Bought mine at Grubbs, they don't drill any of their cars. Definitely looks better without the plate.

Go live in Mississippi, they don't require a front plate; prolly some other states too.

When I went in to get my plates here, I forgot to mention for them not to drill the bumper for the front plate but I guess they are NOT doing it by default because when I went out to the car the front was not installed and instead was placed in my trunk. I'm not decided if I want to drop $$$ for the adapter or just take my chances.

It is also required here in MO to have a front plate, but before I left the dealers lot, he handed me my plate for the front and told me it looked better without it. I would agree, but he said IF i ever got pulled over, that the bracket is already there. Under the plate. Basically the plate flips down and there is the bracket ready to receive the plate. I have an 04 G35x Sedan.

If you dealer drilled holes in the blank, then something aint right. Not sure how the 05 is desinged for it, but I am pretty sure you could just order that part and replace the drilled blank.

Hope this helps.

Default Square Cap

I had my front plate drilled in too.
I took the front plate off and noticed a big square hole. Does anyone know where I can get the front square cap to fill that hole?

Contact your dealer, they should give you one. If they don't make them order it and pay for it since you are the one that actually paid for it.
