Window Tinting Rules

So I just got my G35x yesterday and I am already thinking about tinting the bad boy. I've heard a lot of things about laws and tinting. I live in jersey and saw the rules but if I get 35% tints, would a cop be a prick and pull me over just for that? Also, I got black/black in and out colors on my car. So will 35% be too dark with my already dark looking car?

As for being pulled over, I don't want to make any promises, but my Uncle used to work as a Highway Cop and he said he really didn't pull people over for that. Of course, that is just him, and in New York, but I don't think they really look specifcally for that. I know many people who live near me with VERY high tints on their windows.

Cool. I had tints on my 98 qx4 and never got pulled over or anything. I just got off a call with a window tinting place and the guy was very adamant about front window tints being illegal. Putts if you ask me.

By the way, I love my new G35x.

Anything is possible but I wouldn't worry about it too much. I went through the same thought process before I tinted past vehicles. One was a honda accord with an illegal mirror tint. The other was a 20% tint on my Solara that has black int/ext. I tore off the tint it came with as it was like 30% or something and it looks much better with the illegal tint. I have been pulled over for speeding numerous times in both vehicles and no problems so far. Just don't be a dick to the cop and you should be cool.

BTW the % of tint listed above is not accurate. I believe the glass on a vehicle comes w/ 7% and then your tint film takes it down to 20 or 30%

Some vehicle inspection sticker stations may require your windows to meet legal requirements as well. Many quality tint installers that have been in business for a while will only install legal tint and may place a small sticker on the window before tinting that says this tint meets code. I suggest going with the darkest legal on the sides. The back window does not have any restrictions and can go as dark as you prefer, which will make the side windows appear even darker, however, they will still be legal.

This will help you see better in the dark as well.
