Seems the TL guys think there car is faster than the G35. They don't want to hear the weight factor, gearing, rwd, more tq, but they say because a magazine or vtec.net got a better time than what C&D got for the G35. lol
Actually, they seem pretty fair over there. The only weird thing I see is that they don't like the interior space--they say it's comparable to a 3-series? Supposedly our sedan has more space than a 5-series! I assume they're comparing the TL to the sedan...is there a coupe TL?
Also, there's a bit of apples and oranges going on. The TL is not a sports car. The G is. Everyone over there seems to agree that the G has the better driving experience, but they chose the TL for other reasons.
The last time I looked at the CL it was just a 2 Door Accord. Absoluty no different than my Accord.
I need to emphasize "my" since my wife has decided to drive our -err- her G35x. She tells me my Jeep is my 4x4 in bad weather so therefore i get the Honda and she gets the AWD Infiniti.
They are mostly fair. However I noticed that many of them chose the TL over the G35 for very different reasons than motivated us to buy the G35. They were more motivated by looks, comfort, gadgets, and quiet. We were more motivated by overall vehicle dynamics and performance.
Hey, if you don't know what torque steer is, buy the WWD (wrong-wheel-drive) car and more power to ya!
The guy that said he was a sport driver but found the G35's rearend to be scary, and ended up in a WWD car, cracks me up. Hell yeah it's scary! Power-on oversteer usually is. VDC is handy.
WWD, I like that []
I think the fact that they had different goals is the reason they're fair. They appreciate the strengths of the G, they're just not interested in performance as much as other factors.
Contrast that with the PT cruiser guys, who were ragging on us for performance []

Yeah I agree stru, the TL's goal's were different. I do believe the TL has a few more nice features than the G, but it does not handle and perform as well.
Haha that PT Cruiser topic was the dumbest topic I think we ever had. Gotta love the PT boys...

quote:
I agree with the more loaner cars, longer warranty, and better handling in perfect weather. Service really depends on dealer. The Infiniti here in Nashville is excellent whereas some of the other ones I've been to totally sucked. Same with the Acura. The fact that the TL is just as fast as a RWD, 50/50, 260 ft-lb torque sedan shows you that the TL has the better power distribution and gearing, as well as the better engine. It gets you places just as fast and also burns less gas. As for your last statement, it is totally incorrect. The TL is the best bang for the buck if you look at the overall package. If you look at just performance, then the IS300 takes away the trophy. The G35 isn't even close. Apparently there's an IS300 putting down about 650hp to the rear wheels. That's your best bang for the buck, performance-wise. But the truth is, you can't have it all. That's why all 3 cars are selling well, with the G35 getting an advantage because you can now rent one at any Hertz or Enterprise. That's another thing to consider: do you really want to drop $30k on a car that's a common rental, when that car has among the worst resale values of any? The G35 is great, but I'd definitely buy one used and not new.

Please somebody tell these f[censored]ckers that you can't rent the G35 and the resale value is still considerably well compared to most cars. Or am I completely wrong and you rent our cars at Hertz or Enterprise b/c if so that's what I will request when I travel.
I never have seen our car on any of the rental places' websites (I looked a month or so ago). Also, didn't our car win some magazine's prediction for resale value?

You know what I drive. Pictures.

When will people realize that 50/50 weight balance is NOT the ideal weight balance?

If you look at he March issue of Car and Driver, the Acura TL goes 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and the G35 does it in 6.3 seconds, from 0-100 the Acura TL needs 14.9 seconds and the G35 gets there in 14.8 seconds. The differences from 0-120 is even more stacked toward the G35. The TL with 270 HP is better from stop light to stop light.
