Default 08 G35 Oil and Air Filter Change

Two questions:

(1) How different is the oil/filter change procedure from the one that is on this web site (2003-2006 Infiniti G35 Sedan Engine Oil and Filter Replacement Procedure Video) for a 2008?

(2) What brand of air filters do you guys recommend?

Thanks in advance

I buy my oil and filters from the dealer because I want to support Infinity in my area, and the parts are good quality.

For oil I use Quaker State. I tried synthetic stuff, but the engine is noisier and I am concerned that it does not protect as well in day-to-day driving.

1) The procedure is identical. I think he skipped mentioning how tight to do the oil filter though....some say just do it hand tight, but if your hands aren't so strong or even just slippery, that's not always enough. I always go between 3/4 and 1 full turn of the filter after the filter gasket just makes contact with the base. If you just scratch the end of the filter as soon as the gasket touches, you can then easily see how far it has rotated from that point.

2) I recommend Infiniti/Nissan filters, but buy them from an online dealership...they're way cheaper. The Nissan part number is #16546 JK20A. Don't forget you need a pair of them. Local dealer wanted $20 a piece, online is like $22 a pair plus shipping.

I'f you're going to buy oil and filters from the dealer, you might as well let them change it for me.

My local dealer charges me about $23 to change the oil and filter if I bring them my synthetic oil of choice. I usually buy whatever synthetic oil and filter my local auto parts stores have on sale, unless it comes with a Fram filter, shich I won't buy.
