G35 15,000 service

It's almost time to do the 15k mile service on my 2007 G35. I'd doing schedule 2 since I mostly drive freeway in temperate conditions (SoCal), so I've only done one oil change so far at 7500 miles with synthetic oil.

I've called a few dealers (both infiniti and nissan) and have gotten mixed answers about what should be done and how much service should cost. Some seem to replace the air filter while others just inspect it (and then probably rip you off by upselling the replacement), etc. I've hear it go from $99 to $300 so far.

What is the proper set of service that should be done and how much should it cost?

If anybody has a recommendation of where to get this service done (west LA preferred), that would be very helpful.

Hello Scott (cornholio...LOL) and welcome to 6MT!

The schedule 2, 15k service on your car is a glorified oil change, tire rotate(deleted if you've got staggered wheels) and an in-cabin air filter change(simple DIY item)....the rest is inspections.

I think if you look in your Infiniti Service and Maintenance Guide, page 15, you will see the layout of the three different service levels for the 15k service; comparing them, you'll notice that it's primarily just inspections even for the Premium level. Premium adds wiper blades(need them??), hinge/lock lube(need that??) and an engine air filter(+1, good idea,but definitely a 2 minute DIY item).

I don't know how you feel about the necessity to pay for inspections (some people do like the peace of mind) or how comfortable you are with doing a few SIMPLE maintenance items yourself, but for my money, I'd recommend just getting a quality oil change job, buying the engine air filter and installing it yourself, and checking your car's other essential fluid levels yourself. If you want, you can add the in-cabin air filter to your DIY list, but it's less important. If you shop the filters online, you can find them for far less than what your local Infiniti parts dept charges. If you don't have the staggered wheels, you can rotate them yourself, or often get them done for free on a coupon at Big-O or some other tire place. I bet you could get the all the essential items done for well under $100.

It sounds like I just need to inspect/replace the air filter myself and get a basic oil change/fluid inspection.

I know the rear and front tires are different - P225/50WR18 Fr & P245/45WR18 - since I got the wheel and tire package. Does this mean they're staggered and I don't get a rotation?

I've done an air filter replacement before - do you think I need a new one after 15k miles or just to clean out the existing one?

Yes, you have staggered tires so you save on rotations and lose on tread life.
I always change air filters at 15k, but it it's a judgement call, varying much like the interval for oil changes... different strokes for different folks. BTW, your car has two engine air filters (I forgot to mention that before). OH...Here's a thought....You'll get a small percentage better performance and fuel economy with clean air filters; plus all that DIY satisfaction.

Just get the oil change and DIY everything else yourself. Many dealers will try tro push extra services on you, which are just profit centers for them and are not recommended or required by the owner's manual.

guys, I've been looking for an answer, and no one has really answered it. Since I've now realised that the 2007 g35 is the same body style as the 2008, can someone describe how to change the cabin filter please? Thanks!

Your 07 is also the same as the 03, 04, 05, and 06 as far as the cabin filter goes.

There is a DIY somewhere on G35Driver about changing it. You basically remove the lower glove box, move some wires, and open the door that secures the filter. It takes maybe 15 minutes.
