why go backwards on displacement?
For the time and money involved couldn't you build and boost the stock motor?
and probably have a lot less compatibility issues?

If you're going to go through all that trouble to put a heavier motor into your car, why not get an RB26DETT? Or the RB30DET? Or better yet, the VQ30DETT?

No stock ECU from any N/A car can handle boost... you obviously need a controller or reflash of some sort, and it will most likely come with the turbo kit you buy (unless you're looking at kits you shouldn't be looking for).

Because the inline RB motors own the VQ in many ways... just sucks that they're heavier...

true, but you could drop in an F1 motor, doesn't make it a good idea...coolness factor yes

considering the time and money that will be spent and his apparent concern for things working right wouldn't the money be better spent on a built and blown stock motor?

That really depends on who's eyes you are looking through... if I wanted a real motor, I'd take the chance and drop in the RB... inline sixes are better performers than any V6, and can always handle much more power, much more efficiently.

The RB25DE was used in the R32 and R33 Skylines, while the R33 Skylines also had the option of the turbo'd RB25DET motor. The R34 had a different version of the RB25DET, almost like the VQ35DE and the VQ35DE revup. GTRs had the RB26DETT... but they were all race bred motors with dual overhead cams and electronically controlled fuel injectors (DE)

The 280zx had the L28, which I believe were carbureted...

why go with a 6? Drop in a 5.6 Titan V8 motor. You can build the motor or even supercharge it.
