Default Different Rears??

Hey I've been looking into getting a G35 and I've noticed that some have different rears than others. One has a trunk latch, and the other doesn't. How come their are two differnt kinds?

that's weird they'd make a change like that in the middle of the very first year of a brand new model.

Your G is ugly!! The "doggy door" as it was nicknamed, is how you can tell the original G35S. They came out before the coupe was introduced, and they are all 5ATs. They also do not have a SAT button on the radio, which can be frustrating with iPod integration. Infiniti took away the handle because it didn't make the rear flow. It is a nice feature, but I think the new trunks have a smaller button for the same thing anyway. There is also no remote trunk release in the cabin. One more frustrating thing, you cannot de-badge the Infiniti symbol or lettering, as they are inlayed.

i would say you could just swap trunk lids, but then i guess you couldn't open the trunk. who needs it anyways?

You could swap trunks and use the key fob to open it.

I know that at least one guy swapped out his doggy door trunk for an '03.5 trunk lid and then installed the switch inside the cabin to be able to open it as well.

I like the handle since people try to open my trunk by grabbing the spoiler, which is not good and doesn't work.
