Car still in break in, so could not go past 4K RPM
Here are some initial reactions for now:
1. Wow
2. Wow
3. WOOOWWWWW
4. Refinement over the previous generation is up 1000% The G's interior,
textures, leather quality, fit and finish is finally (almost) up to par with
Lexus and on par with MB and BMW
The interior ambiance is amazing... Drive this car at night to fully
appreciate the interior and how good looking the dash and center console
look when they illuminate at night
5. Smoothness... so much improved over the old car, engine is much
smoother... The new G has gained so much is manners while managing
to keep its wild side
6. Responsiveness... The engine is much improved in terms of
responsiveness at low RPM's (2500 and up) Throttle response is in BMW
territory.. My only complaint is that the throttle pedal effort is too hard
makes smooth launches a little tricky.
7. The Studio on wheels sound is amazing
To fully appreciate the sound, pop in Fort Minor CD and play song # 7
"In stereo" Around the 2 min mark, there is the cleanest, loudest bass
ever recorded... Mike S. even says "Ready to test your speakers?"
The studio on wheels passed the test with flying colours.. not the
loudest system out there, but zero distortion at max sound.. and big
big big big clean BASS that ROCKS
This new G is light years ahead of the 06 in every way... My friend has not pushed it yet (still braking in) but I am sure it won't dissapoint in the power/handling areas either... All the quality, refinement complaints from the 03-06 area are now a thing of the past... This new G is a Lexus with Balls and attitude...
GO TEST DRIVE ONE TODAY !!!!
Now here comes the all important question.... How does it stack up Vs. the competition?
Answer: What competition?
You got to be an idiot if you choose an IS350, A4, MB C280/350 over this car... I would take this car over a BMW 328 for the same money...
My next car is probably going to be a BMW 335i mostly because I want to change it up, and the Twin Turbo engine from Munich is just ooh so sweet
But when and if I do decide to go with the Bimmer, I will have to pay the admission price... Anywhere from $4000 to $10,000 premium over the G with similar equipment depending on the deal you get and whether or not you go with European Delivery..
Is the 335i worth $4000 more ? Maybe
Is the 335i worth $10,000 more... Hell no !!!
Can't wait for the new Coupe to come out and maybe keep me from going over to the dark side !!!

I have a really good feeling about this new VQ. Supposed to be mod happy. Don't be surprised if you do get the 335i and someone in the new sedans flies by you j/k man ... thanks for the write up
I test drove the "S" yesterday and the paddle shifters are awesome, it shifts faster than I could with the 6 speed, and the stereo is killer, my only complaint is that the car is now pushing the $40K mark whereas before you could get a fully-loaded G for around $35K. Is it worth $40K? You bet! Is it better than a BMW? You bet! So, I guess it is utterly a great deal. I heard yesterday the new coupe will have a ht convertible model and a V8. It will also push $50K. This will be the 2008 model which will be in coupe form in June with the convertible to follow in Sept. 2007. So if I decide to go for the 4dr '07, it will probably be the S and not the 6 speed. The 6 speed is also the most expensive. They also offer more packages than last year as well such as a "technology" package and a "handling" package on top of the premium package. I can see how the G can get pricey this way. I think they have a total of four packages now. And 5 models: base, X, Journey, Sport, and 6mt. The new technology is just unbelieveable! Kudos to Infiniti on a job well-done. Now if only the bodywork were better executed.....
Edit: I should have included better VALUE for the money over the BMW, the BMW may be a better overall quality car in some opinions, but I don't think it beats the G in overall value.

New G is actually cheaper than similarly equiped 06 G...
You are still paying MSRP on the 07 while the 06's could be had for Invoice + $500-$1000
As far as being better than BMW, not quite true... Better overall value, for sure... but better car is a stretch... It comes very close though..
