I just purchased a 2003 g35 sedan about a month ago with 50k on it. I just have a few questions:
What is the maximum width of the tires that the sedan will take if i put 19s or 20s on it i want to go staggered?
sorry man i cant really help you with this...
Would the brembo brakes from the coupe fit the sedan?
well the brembo's from the coupe from 03 - 04 are the same brembos that come on the 03 - 04 6mt sedans.
When driving high speeds (120+) there is a plastic burning smell coming from under the car any clues?
i have the same smell. there could be plenty of explanations to why we're smelling such things. it could range from a small oil leak, to a faulty valve timing system. for me, the smell comes almost immediately into the car after letting go of the gas @ 120+ MPH. is this the case for you? the smell is similar to a burning clutch smell. it could be a normal smell from the release of gases through the valve timing system that nissan has. the reason i say this is because i have a friend with an altima, and the same exact smell occurs when he reaches 100+ MPH. so that's something to think about.
The previous owner was an older lady that never pushed the car could it be that the exhaust is getting a workout?
what are you referring to here? the burning smell? well if it's similar to my occurence of the smell, then no. the smell comes from the engine compartment and comes in through the air conditioning vents. it really has nothing to do with the exhaust. if i missed the purpose of this question, please rephrase it and i will return with a more suitable answer.
Wait Smoke, I thought only the 6MT Coupe had the Brembos? I've never seen Brembos on a Sedan, and even the brake warranty read:
Quote:
To ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction, Infiniti is launching a program to provide brake maintenance (as detailed below) on your G35 sedan or automatic transmission equipped G35 coupe for 3 years from the original in-service date or 36,000 miles on your odometer, whichever occurs first, at no charge to you. This program is only available through an Infiniti dealership.

well before i made that post, i checked on the "specs" section of 6mt.net, and looked under 03' sedan, and the brakes read:
Brake rotor dimensionsStandard
11.65" x 0.94" front rotors/11.50" x 0.63" rear rotors
Brembo®
12.76" x 1.18" front rotors/13.07" x 0.87" rear rotors
is there im missing here? i assumed the non brembo's were for the 5AT's, and the brembo's for the 6MT.
Well, according to that letter, which I got for my '04, the only car that wasn't covered was the 6MT Coupe with Brembos. Okay, I still have the brochure for my '04, and this is what it reads for brakes:
Brakes
Front 11.7 x 0.9 inch ventilated discs
Rear 11.5 x 0.6 inch ventilated discs
Anti-lock Braking System 4-wheel, 4-channel ABS
No mention of any Brembos for the sedan.

ahhh, well now i see what it is. the brembo's didnt come for the 04 sedan as an option anymore. i just double checked the "specs" section of the forum, and it doesnt mention the brembos as the 6mt option in the 04's in contrast to the 03's.
well either way, like i had said earlier, the sedan brembos are the same as the coupe's.
Yeah that does explain the smell. But the question is is it supposed to be like that?
What my question really is pertaining to the brembos is if got a set of a coupe woule i be able to directly bolt it on to the sedan?
And also would a 19x11 rim fit in the back? This kid is selling a set of staggered RH rims that he currently has on a 350z and i wanted to know if they would fit. We are supposed to do a test fit sometime soon but i wanted to know if i should even waste my time with that?
ok after searching through the gallery pics on this forum, it's official, no brembo's on the 03-04 sedans... now my question is why does 6mt.net have such a typo?
