Ok... here's your last chance to comment on my choice of mods. Remember, I've got an 05 Sedan w/ 5AT, Borla and Z-tube.
Next 2-3 weeks:
1. Motordyne 1/2" Spacer (thinking thermal, not sure yet)
2. Unorthodox Racing underdrive pulleys
3. Stillen grounding kit (might as well try)
4. Aluminum pedals for extra bling (or whatever the kids say)
Also, for everyone's sake, I do plan to dyno the car after all this and post results. My schedule is crazy, but I should be able to have that done by end of Jan.
Be careful of the spacer, if this is a plenum spacer, the thickness you can go without changing the hood is 3/8". Now, this is true I have found with Crawford plenum spacers, so be aware; all the other changes I have done and they are quite successful. Good luck. BTW the grounding kit will alleviate electrical excess draw on your engine plus a claimed 8 hp but that is speculative, and my pulleys are from Stillen. You may want to add clear corners, and a bit of dressup in the interior such as a nice dash cover and sheepskins. And the Stillen billet grille is nice too. Have fun.
Thanks Mike, I knew you'd have some good tips. I am curious about the hood clearance. Motordyne says the 1/2" will fit, but I think I'll get some playdoh or clay and check the existing clearance before buying. I may have to go with the 5/16" and/or no engine cover.
One of these days we'll have to meet for lunch and compare rides. Give me a chance to do a few more things so I can compete, at least a little.
I love the Borla sound, kinda a low growl under 4k, then a mini-Indy car from 5-7k.
The underdrives, from what I'm told, don't affect alternator or A/C effeciency too much. I have heard that with a full underdrive kit, the A/C will lose a little cooling if idling for extended periods. As for MPG, I would think it would increase mileage since your lowering parasitic loss and lightening the load on the engine.
I'm thinking of just doing the crank pulley instead of a full set now. I dunno... I suppose I could buy the full set and just install the crank pulley to start.
that sounds nice, would you say that it sounds like the coupe? I always thought the coupe was the perfect balance between a sweet tone and a intrusive tone. I never thought they could make a V6 sound so nice! I dont understand why borla and stillen etc. dont post actual sound clips on their site! Don't most people but the products for the sound?

I haven't heard coupes enough to know if there's much difference. But I'm still very happy and highly recommend! I've been a V8-only fan for years, but this thing sounds great. I've got a mini-tunnel underpass that I drive through occasionally... It's great for a 1-2 shift at readline with the windows down.
both the pulleys and the grounding kit do reduce parasitic power loss on the engine resulting in an estimated gain (with both items) of up to 15 hp. Let me know who is going to install your plenum (Scottsdale Infiniti Performance Shop?) and let me know how it goes, you can pm me or post, thx. And yes, the Borla does sound sweet, not as throaty as my '06 Mustang (read: loud) but a nice growl.
Thanks Mike, I got your pm. I'll try and get with you in Jan for sure. I'm actually planning to do the spacer myself (and grounding kit), but the pulleys I'll leave for the guys at IoS. Pulley pulling is never fun.
let me know how the spacer/plenum works, that is next on my list. you can even call if you wish 480-860-0752 sometime if you want to chat about our cars. LOL. My life must be a lot more boring than I realise! LOL!

* motordyne? don't know I have Crawford plenum
* pulleys only need the underdrive
* grounding kit... go on ebay and get a kit that that has lg. gauge wires "7-10" don't spend 150.00 get the 20.00 dollar wires they work the same
Hey thx, I am still waiting to find out how your plenum upgrade (or spacer upgrade) went. I need to get this done, and then I will be DONE! Let me know or give me a call. I am in the book under M. Head in Scottsdale.
Oh GZire, have you priced those lately? Yes they are the best bang for the buck and Stillen warranties them but sheesh! I almost have 320hp at the crank without one! I would love to have a supercharged G but the other upgrades needed would definitely bust the budget (new suspension pieces, brakes, beefed up linkage parts, etc). I think I'd be looking at about $10K. Great if you have the money to burn.
Hey Mike, just called and got VM (didn't leave message). I'll try you again later in the week. Justin still doesn't have the spacers in, so haven't gotten anywhere on that. I may end up going directly to MD, but I like the idea of going through Justin. If something happens, I can blame him.
GZ, you are right on... but funding was an issue. I went with a new TV and some components. Also a pool table. But most days I'd sacrifice those to be able to light 'em up at 30mph on dry pavement...
