Default Better deals on headers

I am looking for headers (stainless) and larger catalytic converters. So far, Stillen is the only mfr. that make the units for the G35 sedan. They are VERY expensive (like $800 for the headers). Anyone know of a better deal out there? I am ready to buy! Thanks and cheers!

All 350z headers fit on the sedan the same as they fit on the Z. Not all high flow cats do because their seems to be a differance in how far the unibody sticks out where the exhaust is channeled near the cats. The one known install issue is regarding Crawford cats, see post on my350z.com in the G35 section.

The headers I would recommend goes as follows based on design.

Crawford
Nismo (or BRM copy)
Stillen

Pretty much all other's follow the DcSports design path.

If I were you, do a WTB post on my350z and 350zMotoring.com for Stillen headers, the odds of finding someone wanting to sell is on the positive side IMO. I've seen priviate sale adds that didn't get responded to. Price should be less then $500 IIRC.

I just checked Stillen's site, they have the stainless headers on sale for $727, ceramic coated for $624. You'll want to ask yourself if you will be keeping the car long enough to really need to pay for stainless.

BRM copies of Nismo headers sell for $850 in stainless and $650 in mild steel. http://www.brmusa.com/headers.htm

Gsedan35 has provided some pretty good info there.

Just one word of caution on the cats. I'd stay away from RT cats.

Thanks Gzire and I do know about the many issues surrounding RT cats, yes do stay away from them, I forgot to mention that.

Here's alink from a 350Z owner that is talking about pulling his Stillen headers off and selling them, no price is mentioned but here's a link.

What have you heard about AlphaWerks headers? The service guys at my local Infiniti dealer sell and install them as well as Borla headers and they think the Alphawerks install more easily, sound better, and seem to give more power. They sell them for around $565.00 or $950.00 installed. I know the price is really low for these headers cause I've seen them sell for much more. Does anyone have any information?

Yes I know about them, they are copies of the DC Sports design. I know that at a certain price point one can be tempted. But to make real power and to make it across the rev range, not just in the last 500 rpm's requires more R&D and construction time then is spent on the DC design or the Borla's. And remember, we're dealing with a parts that notoriously expensive/difficult to install.

There are a bunch on ebay now from OBX and DC Sports that fit my G35, I wonder how good they are as they are selling for as little as under $200. Can anyone shed some light on theses 2 brands? Thanks.

I had DC sports headers and exhaust on my accord before I plopped the turbo on it. Never had a problem with either and they sounded great. They had a nice low tone to them, not the annoying higher pitch. I would highly recomend DC sports parts.

Thanks J. It's nice to get feedback from someone who has tried the product.
