DIY: bypassing the navigation lock
*** DO AT UR OWN RISK **** this is for coupes, but i don't see why it should be different for sedans.
alright folks, i posted this in the coupe section too...here's how to bypass the navigation lock while driving. with this mod, ur suppose to be able to program while driving, but it will temporary interfere with the computer's gas/mileage calculations + it will take a sec for the gps to catch up to the car cuz it'll think the car is stopped when u turn this mod on.
found this on another forum......
"part 1.... Removing the glove compartment:
1) Remove the lower panel below the glove compartment by pulling it down. No screws here, just two metal tabs on each side of the panel.
2) Open the glove compartment, unscrew 4 screws on top and then look under the compartment to find 1 more screw on the side near the center console.
3) Carefully pull the glove compartment down and out starting from the side closer to the center console.
Once you get the GC out, just follow SalTNutz's instructions to locate the Green/white wire (there is only 1) and then connect that to a switch. Instead of removing the multiwire plug from the DVD Rom, I just cut and connected the wire with the plug in. The wires have enough slack in them for you to work with."
part 2.......
" It's easy. Take off teh glove box, then find the 3 multiwire plugs that plug into the back of the DVD Rom. Remove the one farthest toward the passenger side. It will have a white/Green wire there. Cut that wire and put some wire on each end of the cut wire. Run thes 2 new wires to a switch. When you want to program while driving, just flip the switch, program away, then flip the switch back. While the switch is off, it will lose you position on the road, since the car will think you are no longer moving, but as soon as you turn it back on it will find you again right away.
I used the swiitch that was already in the glove box (coupe only I think) the switch that turns off the truunk switch. I mean, why would I ever want to turn off the trunk switch, I will never have my car valeted, and that is the only reason it is there. So mine still looks totally factory, and the switch is factory and hidden in the glove box."
