Basically just paid 238.00 for an oil change at exton nissan. That recommended service is BS, change the oil, rotate & balance tires and then just eyeball the engine for 3mins. To add insult to injury they tried to sell me some engine flush crap for 85.00. Yea right, piss off.
Actually, the price is about right plus they do a 28 point check and check your fluids and top off if needed, and usually wash the car. If you do need a radiator flush you can do better than $85 at a private shop but MAKE SURE they flush it not just drain and fill it as some shops do that I am warned. I hope they did more than just an oil change and roitate tires: here is some advice: have Discount Tires rotate your tires (it's free) and bring your own oil when you get it changed. With Mobil 1 you will save about $30. If all they did is what you said for what you paid, I agree you didn't even get kissed! Not even a reach-around? LOL! Good luck.
The mileage services (15,000, 22,500, 30,000, 45,000, etc.) the dealer tries to sell you are nothing but a cash cow for a dealer. Other than the oil change and tire rotation, most of everything else they include in these services is a visual inspection. Other than maintence items (brakes, air filter, etc.) if anything is wrong it is most likely covered by the 50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. If something needs to be repaired that is covered under the warranty, you shouldn't have to pay them to inspect a covered item. If the brakes are bad or the air filter needs replacing, you pay to get the brakes changed or for a new air filter. You shouldn't have to also pay them to inspect the brakes and inspect the air filter as you would be paying an extra labor charge for nothing.
In the future, save your money and just get an oil change. I'm sure if you go to a local tire shop they'll rotote your tires for a lot less than what the dealer charges and you can get your own $10 car wash.
I always wondered if they did a quick peek or thorough inspection for those service visits. So, this spring, I decided to test them. On the day of the appt, I swapped off my winter wheels and installed my summer tires... BACKWARDS!
I wanted to see if anyone would notice the directional rotation arrows or tread pattern going in the wrong direction. They did. And now they check it over real good whenever I bring it in.
