I picked up a new '05 6MT Saturday. (Black on black, Package A + trunk mats and wheel locks) Got what I would consider a solid deal on it. (30.8k when MSRP was 34.5k) Below invoice is hard to beat. (26 miles on it, so it wasn't one of those units that was test driven to death or anything.)
I didnt' do a ton of fan-site readup on this car before I bought it. I had been considering the Audi or the BMW, but I caught some reviews on the G35, took some test drives and had to have it.
And I love it.
But I have some questions. I'll post in general. Feel free to tell me to get bent and to post in the appropriate forums if you must.
(I did some very quick looking, but no detailed searches. If I ask a redundant question, please bear with me rather than flaming me and sending me to my corner)
I was targeting the '06 because Bluetooth is a feature I really wanted. (I work for a major wireless provider and I have a bluetooth phone already.) Because my dealer isn't getting the 06's till late November and because I got such a screaming deal on the 05, I took it. The dealer mentioned that the local Car Toys commonly installs aftermarket bluetooth units where the ashtray is.
I drove to a more remote Car Toys yesterday and the saleswoman looked at me like I was an alien. I'll check the one nearer the dealer soon, but I thought I'd see if anyone knew anything about that or had any good Bluetooth recommendations. I want it as permanent and integrated as possible. I want to reduce 'clutter' as much as possible. Permanently mounted, wired through the speakers and in sequence with the stereo would be preferred.
Recommendations? Pictures? Would be appreciated.
Also, I've been driving a Jeep Wrangler for the past 6 years, so it's been a while since I've had to worry about the issues that arise from having 300ish horsepower. I'll need to be adding a radar detector. A good one.
Is the Valentine still the best? (I know it was 6 years ago, but I haven't looked into this in a long time.) Where do you mount them for best results, under the rearview mirror? What about hard-wiring. Is this a concern at all? Where is the best place to get this installed?
Appreciate any useful comments here. I'll be perusing the forums here over the next few days. I'm sure more questions will arise.
