Default ENGINE KNOCKING AT PART THROTTLE SOMETIMES AT WOT

Guys.. and gals.. I have a 05 g35 6mt sedan I put 93 octane all the time from exxon, mobil, citgo, amoco and sometimes shell, but I could still hear the engine Pinging (knocking) when I'm accelerating. At part throttle it is very noticeable and at wot you really have to pay attention to hear it but it is still there. I took the car to the dealer and they said they could not recreate the problem (eventhough i took a mechanic with me from their shop on a test drive and he heard it also). Do any of you have the same problem? What can I do toremedy the problem (timing?)?

Default pinging

Ive never had pinging on my G35 and use hi octane, sounds like a timing problem, easily fixable if so.

sounds like the timing is advanced too much.

go to the dealer and demand that they check the timing or else they'll be replacing an engine under warranty. Find out exactly what the timing is set at. Stand over the tech working on your car. It the timing is where it "should" be as per factory specs...then maybe something else is wrong. Maybe a bad tank of gas....but if you've heard the knocking with other tanks of gas then rule that out.

Make sure your airfilter is not clogged. Hot air can cause detonation.

What ever you do....if the mechanic at the dealership herard it.....make them FIX IT!!!! You're just doing more damage in the long run. I've shot a rod out of the side of a block before because of top end detonation over a long period of time. It's definately doing damage.

Default TIMING?

Ok Sean let's say I do go to the dealer just like last time, and they give me the same response... What I would like to know is what is the timing supposed to be... How do you set the timing on these cars? what is total advance supposed to be? I think this is where the question is... I remember my mustang that I used to have, I would whip out the timing light adjust my timing and off I went...I don't think you can do this on these cars (can you?) Thanks again for the help guys...
