Default TIRE SIZES

Hello fellow G35r's I have a question: I want to replace my 215/55-17 Goodyears with a tire with a wider stance without changing calibrations on my speedo and odo, what sizes are COMPARABLE to the above in tire height to width ratio if I go with a wider tread? Would 235/45-17 work? Or 245/40-17? Any help appreciated as Goodyears are too expensive and they no longer make replacements for that model tire (I think its like an "GS-A D3" or something). It's too bad too as the 55 series are a good ride height for a smooth ride with my sport package as the springs and shocks are a bit harsher than without the sport package. Thanks! Oh and also I would need to know what size (width) NOT to get so I dont have any rubbing on the fender wells, I do not want to go TOO big! LOL! Ya know "tire envy! LOL!

235/50/17 is about the same size as the stock 215/55-17 that come stock. I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and the rock.

The Pilot A/S were not cheap. Khumo now has an ASX model in the 235/50-17 which seems like it would be a great tire as well. When I went looking, they did not have our size on the market yet.

I have 17x8 wheels, but even when I had the stock wheels I was able to run 245/45/17s. This is a pretty common size that a lot of tires come in and you can find some nice performance tires for a really low price. I autocross on Falken Azenis Sport RT-215s ($120/ea.) or RT-615 ($160/ea.) and those suckers stick like glue. Another tire the autocross crowd is picking up these days is the Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212 ($115). I did previously have the Goodyear Eagle GS-D3's on the 17x8 wheels and I loved them. Nothing beats those on wet pavement and on dry they're almost as good as the Falkens.
