Default Picking up 03 G35 tomorrow....Any advice?

Hi gang

first post, go easy on me. We are picking up an 03.5 G35 Sedan 6MT tomorrow. It silver with black leather nad has about 29K on it. I We are quite excited.

I assume these cars are reliable etec, but I was wondering if there are certain things I need to check for under the hood, inside etc. It has warranty remaining, so I am not too worried, but I was curious what some common excessive wear and tear areas are. I will check the seats, carpets, common switches etc, but is there more.

Please let me know asap!

Thanks!

IMO I would bring one or two additional friends with me that have some car sense. 4 or 6 eyes are always better than two if you know what I mean. Bring a tablet to write down any questionable defects or concerns and do this in daylight hours. Putting the car on a lift for underbody inspection would be good for checking leaks, tires or under carriage damages (remember this car is low to the ground).

I under stand its probably too late for this but before I would purchase a used vehicle for myself I would have it inspected by a third party mechanic shop of my on choosing. I also understand the cost would come out of your pocket; however, it gives you a written bargaining chip to use on finally negotiation of the sale. Car history reports can also be helpful in discovering any accidents or floodwater issues.

This link can also give you some guidance as well

Hope this helps and good luck…

Default used G35

CARFAX is a good tool, to use as well, you search by VIN# and it will tell you if there are any reported accidents or record of major repair, always look at the title as well and make sure it is not salvage (unlikely anyhow.) Good luck.

i wouldnt worry too much. but here a few checks to run just before you pull out of the dealer:

1) check basics, make sure all electronics work. (pain in the ass to go back just for a window)

2) turn on the car, open up the hood and inspect how the engine is acting. the engine should be pretty stable, if the engine seems to move just a bit too much, then you should worry about your motor mounts. (how do you what's too much? well i always liked putting a coin on top of the engine, if it starts to jump around.. not good).

3) check underneath the vehicle (while it is on), and make sure you have no leaks.

4) make sure the air is working.

5) when you first pull out, make sure you got good throttle response (incase of cable being loose).

6) while you're leaving, pay attention to the transmission, and how it's acting.

last but certainly not least: ENJOY! if you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
