Default What Did You Pay - '05 6MT Sedan - New England Area

Hey All. I'm debating on whether to trade in my low-miles, never snow driven '04 Subaru WRX STi with mods for a '05 G35 6MT Sedan. I'm just getting tired of everyone and their sister looking to race me at a stop light or on the highway - AND I miss RWD...big time. The only drag about the G35 is the gas mileage (obviously) but I'm guessing that with a Stillen intake, exhaust system followed by a ECU reset it will improve slightly like it has in the past for my STI and previously owned '90 300ZX.

Anyway, my real question is for everyone in the New England area as I'm curious what price everyone paid for theirs in this market. I live in NH and have been looking at the local Infiniti dealer in Nashua but I'm not sure what to EXPECT to pay vs. MSRP. Each dealer in the area has the same car with the same features but is priced differently. So, for what I am looking for - '05 6MT Sedan with Premium (Navi not needed) what would be an average 'expected' purchase price? I know there are a lot of factors based off of invoice price, but if I have an idea of a few real world prices that people have actually negotiated down to it will make me feel better when I walk in the door. I haven't even driven the car yet but I'm sure after I will I will want it - so that is why I'm getting all my ducks in a row (so to speak).

Thanks for any assistance!
Jeremy

Jeremy,

I also live in NH and purchased a 05 6MT. I was choosing between the TL 6MT, STi and the G35. I was in the market this past Feb, whe the 6MT was VERY rare. Nashua has a black one fully loaded and wanted 37K or so for it, with no bargaining, and sales guy even made it known they had the only one in the region. Ive had enough of black cars, and was interested in Brilliant Silver, so the search began. I just didn't like the way they dealt with me there so I moved on.

I searched Infiniti online and called all the dealers in the NE area. I got a call from QUirk Infiniti in Braintree MA, and they told me there is only 1 slated for NE and it's destined for them. Remember in Feb the G35 6MT sedan was still very rare. It was still on the boat, would have been their first 6MT on the lot, and MSRP for it was 35,090. It has everything but NAV. Prem. pkg, sport pkg, aero pkg...Briliannt Silver with Black interior. They offered it to me for 32,800 or so. According to Edmunds, that was like 800 over invoice. For a car that no one else in NE had at the time (and I still have yet to see one like it in all my travels). I have not yet seen another in the Manchester area, or everyday on my commute to Framingham. I may see an occasional 05 Sedan grey without spoiler, or a 05 G35x, but have not seen a Brialliant Silver 05 6MT with Aero.....it's great. I see a dozen TL's exactly alike it seems everyday. It's nice to have something most don't.

So anyway, I had a great experience at Quirk, they were easy to deal with, as I didnt haggle the price, I thought $800 over was fair at the time. Since they are in Braintree, you can imagine how many times I have gone back for service or anything....I use Nashua for that and so far the service dept. at Nashua has been fantastic. No problems with them.

I love driving the car, and average 23-26mpg depending on how many 0-110 blasts from the Bedford tolls I do on my commute...

Anything else I can help with? WHat color you thinking? I own the rights to Brilliant Silver in NH hehe just kidding....

Hey Mike. Thanks for the reply and the detailed insight. I actually pulled the trigger last night on a 'new' G35 from Nashua. It is a 2004 (managers car with 2000 miles), black 6MT Sedan, EVERY option excluding NAV but it has the Simionz protection inside and out, all the aero kits and a clear front bra. Ended up paying 28K for it and got around 22K for my STi. I was hoping for more on the STi but I didn't want to go through the hassle with putting in on CARS.COM and dealing with kids just wanting to drive it. I pick it up tomorrow and cannot WAIT! I ended up driving the '04 Black one I actually bought, and a graphite silver '05 6MT (I think they wanted 32.5K with the premium) but overall for the deal on the '04 (where it has EVERYTHING) I couldn't really resist - AND I saved a couple of grand. They say the MSRP on the 2004 was around 38K, and I believe them! I'm kind bummed I didn't get an '05 so I could have had the bump in horsepower but after driving the '04 I think it will be just fine for now - until I decide to get some extra stuff for it!

I totally agree with the amount of TLs in the area. I hardly EVER see a G35 but see WAAY too many TLs for my liking. I wanted RWD so the TL wasn't even an option for me. I also didn't want a black car but because this has the Simoniz (?) protection I'm alittle more confident in the paint holding up vs. my STi.

Thanks for the insight on MPG. I was alittle concerned about the MPG considering everyone says they get 18-20 on average - but if I can even get remotely close to yours I'll be happy. The G35 isn't my daily drive car but I'm curious if you do drive yours in the winter and how it is? I'm assuming you have another set of snow wheels and tires?

Perhaps I'll see ya on Route 3 sometime. I commute from Nashua (exit 6) to Tewksbury most every morning.

After reading several posts about finding 05 6MT in the northeast, I would highly reccomend checking into some southern state dealers. I didn't have a problem finding, and negotiating a deal on, a brilliant silver with premium, black leather, sport and aero package. Bought it for invoice. There were more then enough 6MT on the lot to chose from. If you're interested, I can send, or post a great contact to the dealer I bought mine at. For the price of shipping, or the flight down, it might be worth your time. I would highly reccomend flying down, giving me a call, and spending a weekend in Dallas, you won't regret it. That's if you're a single male.

First of all congrats on your new car. Im sure you'll love it. My buddy at work also had a black Sti that I got to drive quite often and just cant believe the pull of it. My other buddy has a 04 TL, so I have had plenty of sampling of both. While the STi was an awesome drive for a bit, the peaky nature and overall wanted to thrash the crap out of it with every shift pushed me away, and after having three sets of Maxima's, 92, 00, 04, I have had enough of front drive....

I picked mine up in Feb of this year and had a couple small storms to go through. One was actually a prety decent one, with hard packed snow on the side roads where plows hadn't gotten to yet. The car came with the Bridgestone ER33 tires 245.40.18 and they were almost brand new. With the VDC off, it was almost un-driveable and squirrelly. With it on and new tires, even though they were summer rated, it was manageable provided I didnt do anything dumb, like stop on a hill or push the laws of physics.

I routinely get 23-24 even with a WOT burst here and there and I commute to framingham from ManchVegas 3 days a week doing 75-90mph...and still manage to get those numbers...on a hard drivin week MAYBE I'll get 22, but thats after beating the pulp out of the car...

I pass through Nashua and the border around 830 every day.

I did drop mine off for a out-of-balance wheel (think it threw a weight) and an oil change today at Nashua Infiniti and they gave me an 05 loaner for the day...it was an 05 G35x, and was decent. It revs about 3-400 rpm higher than the MT model and had plenty of power but was peaky and seemed very heavy...hard to describe the heavy feeling but when I got in my car tonight mine just seemed so much lighter. I hear the x models get poor mileage due to the extra weight of the awd and gearing and drag of transmission components.

Glad to have my G back!

One other thing...

SInce I put so many miles on the car, Ill be in the market for tires by snow time and am having that hard decision. Due to the wierd size 235/45/18 tires, there are only a couple options. I could go with regular all seasons, or keep these until the tread wears off and buy a set of wheels with winters on them. Or, could plus size and go with 245/45/18 plus size, which opens up many more tire options, and get Pilot Sport A/S or something else, but nothing will beunder a grand I bet...hate having to buy tires every year though...
