I am a new member. Does anyone know what the top speed is for the 2005 Infiniti G35 6MT (298 hp) Sedan? I have not been able to find the 2005 any magazine tests. Is the top speed electronically governed?
I have been evaluating this car for a while know. I was talking with an owner of a 2003 G35 Sedan model who stated that she needs to replace brake pads every 15,000 to 20,000 miles. Apparently this is a known issue and Infiniti has paid for the replacements up to 35,000 miles. Does anyone know if this probelm exists with the 2005 G35 Sedan 6MT?
I am almost sold on this car. The only flaw I can fidn is very minor. I want the Sirius Satellite radio option. The Infiniti has a very after market looking black satellite antennae with a black strip cover the wire. With a car in this class, I would assume that a color coded satellite antenna would be available. Does anyone know where I can buy a color coded antenna? If not, I like the idea of mounting the antenna to the trunk deck myself. Do the same installation instructions work in the sedan?
The 03 & 04 models were limited to 156 mph. From what I've heard the G can probably go faster than that (as opposed to cars that are limited, but really couldn't go faster anyway-------->like my current daily driver). I am not sure, but I'd put money on the 05's also being top speed limited.
The brake pad wear (and dusting) for the earlier models is a trade off to get the great stopping distances that the G has. I can't confirm it, but my guess is that the 05's pads are less aggressive which would help to extend the pad life and address the dusting issues better.
Sorry don't have a clue on the satellite items.

I can shove a floor jack under the rear of the car, start up the car, put it in drive and mash on the throttle in 6th, 145mph is it. I'll believe anything higher on any sedan that does not have a reflash when I see a video of the speedo as proof.
You can mount the antenna yourself. It's as simple on the sedan as it is on the coupe. I put my XM antenna inside on the rear shelf. This is slightly farther back and slightly lower than the default mounting spot on the back of the roof, but it receives just as well. I've heard that Sirius is a little more picky in terms of antenna placement since the signal is a bit weaker, but I've heard people had success with an interior mounted antenna as well.

When I did the math based on the transmission and drivetrain ratios, I got 186 mph in 6th gear at redline. I bet the car would be aerodynamically limited before that.
Jacking up your car and running it won't tell you what the aerodynamic limit is. Plus it seems really risky to run the car at high RPMs with no load...?

I was pushing the coupe around 140ish this weekend and it wanted more. But unfortunately I saw some traffic ahead and had to start slowing down. I will take some pics this weekend at W.O.T. and see if I can get the top speed for you.
If you look at the log, you'll see the RPMs were around 6k at 150. I wasn't close to topping it out, but I just called it quits (got a bit scary even though the car felt very stable at that speed).
120 for me on the Turnpike and I had plenty more to go.
