Default Squeal on startup

Hey Guys,

The past 2 days my G35 has had a weird squeal in the morning that goes away right after it starts up. Could this be the chain from it being colder all of a sudden? Keep in mind it went from 90 degrees on saturday in chicago to about 55 yesterday and 65 today.

Its a 2006 G35 sedan, 6MT 62K miles

Thanks

It's the belts. You can tighten them but it may be time to replace them. It's not a difficult DIY if you can gain access to underneath the motor.

ththe timing chain and the serpentine belts that power the accessories are two different things.

All G35s and G37s, regardless of year, have timing chains. They are covered by the timing chain cover and usually never need replacement. They don't squeak.

The serpentine and accessory belts are also on all G35s and G37s and they make things like the alternator, power steering pump and AC compressor. Some even spin the radiator fan like on 03 sedans.

The belts wear out and they will squeak. Here is a DIY for the belt change. 2003-2006 Infiniti G35 Sedan Drive Belts Replacement Procedure Video | Infinitihelp.com
