Default P2135 code..need help

pulled the code from the 2004 g35 sedan 67k miles...SES light came on after the car almost died on me while driving, had to turn it off and start it up right away. My code reader is saying its linked to the throttle position sensor/ switch..has anybody ran into this problem before? If so, what do you do to fix the problem?
Thanks

Here is more info on that code. OBDII Code P2135 INFINITI - Throttle Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance | Engine-Codes.com

You might try a throttle body relearn procedure. Timing is critical.

Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning

1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.

Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning

1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch “ON”.
3. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound.

Target Idle Speed

1. Run engine at about 2,000 rpm for about 2 minutes under no-load.
2. Rev engine (2,000 to 3,000 rpm) two or three times under no-load, then run engine at idle speed for about
1 minute.
3. Check idle speed.

650 50 rpm (in “P” or “N” position)

2004 G35 sedan with 54K, auto.

So... Pretty much had the same problem as GQ916. Drove the car around a corner and then it died, quickly turned it back on and everything is all right. I got the code pulled at Autozone, thanks for that tip 6mt, and read this thread. Pretty sure I did everything right. I have not experienced anymore problems after about 100+ miles of driving.

Do I have to clear the code after the reset procedure or... Is it supposed to go away after the procedure and if it doesn't, it means it's still broken?

You can reset the ECM (electronic control module) by disconnecting the battery overnight and it will clear the SES light and might take care of the problem. You can then do the throttle body relearn procedure above.

Gilley,

I didn't have time follow the advice on the ECM.

It just "clicked off on it's own". Just hopped in it to drive to lunch and it wasn't lit.

Thanks for the help on both threads.

If it went off by itself, then don't worry about it. If it pops up again, try resetting the ECM and go from there.

Ok, the code resurfaced. I will try the "unplugging it all night" trick this weekend but I do have a follow up question.

Is this sort of problem something you should take to the dealership or to a local mechanic? I can see it going either way after reading a lot of threads.

It sounds like your car might need a new throttle bosy if all the reset procedures don't clear it up.

A local mechanic may be able to take care of that, but it may be a dealer diagnosis and repair.

Ok, so I got the code twice more between last post and this one. I took the car into to get the TB cleaned at a garage up the street. (the garage isn't specialized to a brand.) They said it was pretty dirty. I took the car home, did some errands and pulled the 0507 code. Cleared the code. Unhooked the battery and restarted it.

Now... The engine revs a little high. I tried the TB relearn and it didn't seem to work. It's currently clocking in at like 800rpm while idling in P. Before I cleaned it I saw that it was idling at like 650/700. Is this "acceptable" now or should I have it tweaked at the dealer or will it "learn" back to the original level? I let it idle for like 30 minutes but it stayed around that 800 level.

Timing. Is. Critical. Try it again, you almost guaranteed wont get it on the first try.
