Default code PO300, service engine soon light

Hello I have an 2003 infiniti g35 automatic...my engine has this ticking noise, kinda like the sound when you start a gas stove. I also got a service engine soon light, had it checked, came up code: po300, (multi cyl. misfire) saw some white smoke come out of tail pipes too. car runs great still, seems to drive same, but the ticking is driving me crazy, any help is appreciated...

What weight oil do you use? I had a '96 Isuzu Trooper that had the same issue. Turns out it was a common problem that not enough oil was getting to the valves and springs. I think I used lighter weight oil and it fixed the problem. Does it go away after it warms up? Where do you? Did it start when int started to get colder out?

I always have used 5w 30 mobil 1 full synthetic oil, when car idles its ok, but when I hit the gas pedal to about 1000 rpm's it has that fast ticking sound that it never did before, I have 75k on motor, I live in san jose area. it seems to stay the same after warming up, and when i come to a stop light you can hear it again when i come to a stop. I am going to start with changing spark plugs first

If it was misfiring, I am sure you would know; I doubt changing the plugs will fix it, but it is something good to do if you haven't in a while. Is the ticking tied to acceleration? As in, does it get faster as the rpm go up?
