I've had it with my G. It slips in rain, it slips in slush, it slips all over, I can't wait til it slips into a truck!
I got stuck tonight in less than 1/2 an inch of snow (10th time this winter) and I had to leave my car at the "foot" of a bunny hill and trek 3/4 of a mile in a snow storm to get home. Between the shoddy paint, terrible traction, and all the other bothersome problems I have had, I'm ready to turn this thing in.
I honestly loved the car (keyword being loved) and I think I still might have if I lived in the land of Perfect, where the sun shines everyday and loose rocks on the road don't exist.
Sorry to all the g35 enthusiasts. I just had to share my frustration.
I have an 04 coupe and experienced the same thing at the end of last winter.
This season I put on a set of four Bridgestone Blizzak LM22's. My car now handles as well as any rear wheel drive I have ever owned. In fact, the rain handling is better than any tire I have ever had.
When i think about how much I spent on the LM22's (a bit pricy), I can't help but smile. They were worth every penny!
As far as the paint is concerned, the coupes have the worst paint durability
I have ever experienced. The film thickness is not what it should be, and it is extreemly brittle. Deffinetly not engineered for North America.
I am not sure how my friend does it, but he has a 350z with the baldest Pilots I have ever seen. He manages to get around just fine in the rain and even partial snow covered roads.
Could be a driving problem??

Yea I have the Pilots. Not the first time I've used those tires though. I had them on my last car so I thought they would perform much better. i ddin't have a chance to buy winter tires since I just got the car about 5 months ago and I couldn't afford it right now. I used to drive a 2001 Grand Prix GT...it was awesome in the snow even with the pilots. I guess it was foolish to assume the infiniti could do it. The G is not the first rear wheel drive car I have though but it will be the last. The wierdest part is even my Z3 which has low profile tires as well and is 2/3's the size of the G handles much better in the snow.
I think he should sell his G35. Looking at his current and previous posts, he has done nothing but complain about his car. I think he likes to bash on the car just for the hell of it...
"1/2 an inch of snow"?? Why are you driving your G35 with summer tires in the snow? Don't you know you're using Performance/SUMMER ONLY tires??!!! Why do you expect it perform well in the snow?

chill. he is frustrated and expressing his frustrations...
if it bothers you, then ignore him.
if i had to walk in the snow that far, i'd be pissed too... HAHA

its your tires guy. Grand Prix is a front wheeler with much thinner tires. Z3 has all season tires. Rain traction isn't the best but I haven't had any problems
Get some snow tires man. You will completely change your mind. I was in the same situation and had to walk back to my house when I couldn't make it up a slight incline. The problem- I was rolling summer tires close to bald. After I picked up a set of dedicated snow tires I have no complaints. I have driven the G in almost a foot of snow here since changing out my tires and am rather surprised at how well it handles.
And I don't care what anyone says about paint. Every car I've ever owned and forums I've been a part of has people complaining about it having the worst paint quality(Acura, Honda, Bmw, Chevy, Toyota).
Acepro you need to keep several things under consideration:
1. The Pilots are maximum performance summer tires. You have snow, water, & cold working against these tires. Get the correct tires and it will be a different car.
2. A high torque rear wheel drive car on snow isn't a good combination. A light weight AWD or FWD car is a much better combination for performance.
3. A Z3 is a much lighter car than a G and should do much better on snow than a G. I bet if you drove a bug (the old variety) you would be stunned at how much better it performs in snow than your Z3 (both rear wheel drive cars).

Having read how bad the summer tires are in the snow, I orderd my LM22s in October, a few weeks after getting my g35 6MT. Though I was worried about a RWD car (my last car was an Audi A4 Quattro) I've been very pleasantly surprised at the handling. Between the Blizzaks and the VSD, I think it does quite well.
Tires are key here...
