My MPS's suck in the snow as everyone elses but i really think they're awesome in the rain...anyone agreE?? what little they do wrong, VDC easily fixes and as long as i don't drive like a moron, i never really have close calls.
I agree. I live in San Diego and Haven't had a change to drive them in the snow, but there has been a lot of rain and mud the last few months and they handle fine. Just don't try to push it as hard as you do on dry pavement, and you won't have any problems.
Thanks for the input guys. Yes I was VERY frustrated when I wrote this post as I have been when I've written all my others (thus the complaining), but it doesn't mean I don't have legitimate gripes. Why doesn't the dealer offer all-season tires if I was buying the car in fall? That makes no sense if they give me summer tires only...(BTW I didn't know they were summer tires only, thanks for the info).
What snow tires do you guys recommend? Do I have to get new rims also? Are there any all-season Z rated tires I could get that would go with the 18"s?
I'm still probably going to have to get a 4x4 as well... There goes my money.
I agree with you acepro about if you are in the northern climates the cars should come with all season tires. Plus being a "premium" dealer they should definitely have taken the extra step to talk to you about the tires.
In my climate it's maximum performance all the way. However, I've been freaked out before when going through puddles and getting very little traction (accelerating from a stop).
Anyway....winter tires. Most guys I hear of go with Blizzaks.

I believe they do offer all season tires with the winter package. Goodyear Eagle something or others. I wouldn't mess around with an all-season tire if I was you though. You really need dedicated snow tires for the winter. If you've got the cash go buy some rims for the winter/summer and change your setup by the season.

Z rated????? Where the hell you going with Z rated. Currently the MPS's are W rated but still, you not going to be pushing no 200 mph with snow tires on. Sorry but your just going to have to take it easy during the winter. When I lived in PA, we always changed the tires out to snows for the winter. Took no chances putting your car in a ditch and never got stuck.
To side with the dealers, it is not the dealers that put the tire on. They ship from the factory with those. Probably a lot easier for Infiniti to just do the one tire instead of trying to figure which cars are going to which region and who needs snows or not. I would sure be pissed if mine came with snows in the middle of the summer here in Arizona. I don't think you will find a dealer in the country that sells the cars with winter tires on. Granted the dealer should have made a suggestion about the snows, more so if they had sold the car in the dead of winter with snow on the ground. Most people up north either garage the sports cars or run snow tires. All seasons, yeah I think they are over rated to when it comes to snow. Granted better than a summer tire but they don't offer any real snow benifit. Only way to go is with actual snow tires with a decent thread pattern. Snow actually packs well into tires with tight thread patterns and narrow groves effectively making you drive with four donuts of ice. Larger thread patters with larger groves allow the snow to fall out.
Also don't kid yourself with a 4x4. Despite the 4x4 designation, on most 4x4's these days not all four tires turn if one gets stuck. Many today are designed as a limited slip as if the rear right is spinning then the front left will start turning. Two of the only true 4x4 units that come to mind straight from the factory would be I think the Mercedes and the Land Rover. They have buttons in them, basically acting like an air locker, that can lock in the entire front and rear axel. This is not to say that you can't convert a 4x4 with air lockers. Many of the hard core 4x4'ers do this, mostly the rock climbers and the heavy mudders.
(Where the hell is NOKARES when you need her....hahaha)

They have "reverse-races" at the local raceway around here. People take old junker(Soon to be demolition-derby) cars and enter them in these events.
It's kinda funny to watch, and I hear it's also very difficult to drive in.
You would think that you could have a pretty bad neck injury if you hit someone real hard going backwards with your head turned to look out the back window. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.
Look.........the guy from Hawaii is telling you how to deal with winter driving.
Just yankin your chain, GZire.
Well I didn't think the suggestion I gave Ru was appropriate here (drive in reverse to change your car from RWD to a FWD car ).
hey ... it was good advice ... have had to use it once and it did the job
ace - if you have the money then get a winter beater. The G with a set of winter tires is a vast improvement but why bother putting the G at risk at all. Just get yourself an old Subaru with AWD or soemthing like that
Microwave ovens vary in power. Adjust your cooking time. You simply need to know what you have. It's a GREATLY handling car. A formula one car is even better. But if you want to drive it like a Z3 or a Grand Prix, you WILL BE FRUSTRATED. So, know which microwave you have. Don't overcook your frozen food.
