Default MORE Questions . . . .

Sorry folks but I need to ask a larger group of people to clarify some points for me, I am hoping for most people to give me the same answers or agree with others in order for me to make decisions for my G 6MT:

1. Cold Air Intakes: I have heard some people say that there is limited air flow in the Gs location point for CAI (AEM or INJEN), meaning less hp or problems with fuel mixtures via the ECU. True or False???

2. Hypothetically speaking, you add an aftermarket exhaust and intake to your G, do you really need to have the ECU reprogrammed to see the best results? Once again, I have been told problems can exist with fuel, especially running rich.

My dilemma is obvious, I do not want to make adjustments to my G and run into problem after problem trying to figure out why the car is running rough.

It is roughly $1000.00 in Canada to have the ECU reprogrammed and of course there are warranty issues when you get this done. I am hoping some people can shed some light on these issues for me!

3. Where can I upload pictures to link for viewing on this forum? This must be a stupid question but I want to post pics of my G in 4 weeks when I get it and I am still confused how to get these up on this site?

Thanks in advance for your patience and assistance!

ciao
G-diddy

well to partially answer the ECU question ... any performance mod you do would only be ideal after you adjust the ECU for it. I think you'll notice improvement but with a modern car there really isn't a stand alone upgrade because so many components are interlinked

As for uploading pics www.photobucket.com is good to use if you dont know much. They give you the exact link to post here in the forum to see a pic. Good and free

I'll try to answer as best I can.

1. Cold Air Intakes: I have heard some people say that there is limited air flow in the Gs location point for CAI (AEM or INJEN), meaning less hp or problems with fuel mixtures via the ECU. True or False???
There are no air flow limitations for CAI on the G that I am aware of. The A/F mixture should not be a problem since the ECU should correct for oxygen entering the engine.

2. Hypothetically speaking, you add an aftermarket exhaust and intake to your G, do you really need to have the ECU reprogrammed to see the best results? Once again, I have been told problems can exist with fuel, especially running rich.
You don't necessarily need to have the ECU reprogrammed (reflashed), but it can help take advantage of your modifications. If anything you will be running slightly lean with changes such as these. Too lean is a worse condition than too rich. With these minor changes you really shouldn't be in any danger of damaging your engine, you'd need to do something more significant to do that.

My dilemma is obvious, I do not want to make adjustments to my G and run into problem after problem trying to figure out why the car is running rough.
Some cars don't react too well to different CAI systems. Neffster is definitely the guy to ask about this.

It is roughly $1000.00 in Canada to have the ECU reprogrammed and of course there are warranty issues when you get this done. I am hoping some people can shed some light on these issues for me!
Have you thought about Technosquare? They are in California and shouldn't be anywhere near $813 USD ($1000 CAN). Who is quoting you this price, it seems pretty high. TS is only about $600 for the reflash with subsequent reflashes being less than that.

A lot of guys use Car Domain.

Thanks for the input . . . very much appreciated!

I was quoted $1000 including installation(2 hrs) for a powerchips ECU. Canadians really get raped in my opinion! I am going to be paying $764 per mth for the G on my lease and I am putting $5000 down . . . Brutal!
