Interest in a 6mt.net Group Buy on Motordyne Intake Spacer?
Who would be interested in this?
I definitely like to get a 1/2 inch spacer for my G....as the dyno results have been very impressive, to say the least. It added 7.5 Lb of Torque at the peak torque point, and 11.5 HP at the peak HP point. From what I saw according to Dizz's dyno, there is also a very even power gain across the whole powerband(even more than at the peak). I'm not sure how much this part costs, but it has to be one of the best bang-for-your buck mods available to us.
If we can get enough people on 6mt.net, we could probably get a discounted rate on them.
I'm interested as well now that somebody has been the guinea pig. Isn't there a group buy over at g35driver? I don't know if it would be more or less helpful to piggyback with them if possible.
I'd hoped to join that as well....but group buy is now closed.
Unless we can contact the seller directly and see if he is accepting any more additions to the buyer list at the established price that they have been quoted.
Donnie...Do you know who to talk to or how we could find out about that?
From what I have heard/read, the group buy is not only closed but the part is on "backorder" for a couple of weeks. So all those people who paid up front for the group buy are just sitting around waiting for the part to come in, even though the seller guaranteed them by 2/15. That's not very good business if you ask me. So nobody else will be able to buy one until all of those group buy people get theirs, so it'll be at least a few weeks.
Whoa......let's be careful here and keep our heads. Hydrazine is the person that developed and designed the MD Spacer. I have not personally met him but have had several PM discussions with him. He is an extremely nice AND accommodating individual. He set up the Group Buy on G35driver and it drew huge numbers. Hydrazine has made plenty of the Spacers.....he also provides all the parts needed to put the mod on your car (gaskets, washers, bolts, etc). The actual Spacer that he makes is in stock......it is the gaskets that have a couple of weeks lead time from Nissan that are causing a problem. Remember that Hydrazine works full time for his normal job and this Motordyne intiative is a new venture for him that he does on the side. He is very busy with his normal job and if you look at the volume that the G35driver Group Buy drew, you will see that he is a very busy guy....oh, and I almost forgot, he has a family that he also has to give attention to.
Hydrazine is a nice guy. PM him on G35driver and approach him about a Group Buy. The dyno results are coming back and look great......he will be even busier as calls come in for his product.

I wasnt' meaning to put him down in any way, I just was just repeating what I had read on g35driver.com about the delay in shipping them out. And I know he's shipping them out in the order of when people purchased and paid for them, so anyone new who would sign up for one right now wouldn't see it for a few weeks. That's the only point I was trying to make. Sorry if I offended anyone.
i) 1/4" - Fits in a 350Z and retains use of the strut brace
ii) 3/8" - Fits in G35 Coupe and retains use of the engine cover
iii) 1/2" - Fits in G35 Coupe but cannot use engine cover but fits in a G35 Sedan and retains use of its engine cover.
I wonder if I can make one out of duct tape in the meantime.
Just order 12 of the stock gaskets and stack them on top of each other giving you an easy 1/4" spacer for under $30...
I'm not the first one with this idea, click this link for more details... Performance Nissan
Same results for a fraction of the price... Doug Stewart, owner of Crawford Z Car tried this before he designed his plenum. End result, he opted to skip the spacer idea and design a plenum. Ever wonder why just do a little research on my350z.com

So the 1/2" will fit the sedan and allow the use of the engine cover but not on a coupe? Interesting. I would have thought it would be the same for both but that's good news for me as I have a sedan.
I'm in for the 1/2" if this group buy materializes.
On a side note, anyone know if this would work on an FX35?

I read that thread, "$29 dollar spacer" or something like that.
I got the feeling that the Crawford "cheerleaders" posted that up to salt Motordyne and AAM's game. To me it seems childish and unethical. It's sad when political style mudslinging enters the aftermarket mod industry.
The whole thread itself was wishy washy. First they were claiming that there were no gains, then 3 pages later, they back tracked and said that there were some gains.
I know it wasn't Doug himself that started the thread. I know Doug is a really nice guy from personal experience, but his cronies IMO aren't helping his business.
I'm sure the gaskets will achieve the same effect as the spacer but having a solid billet piece is much easier on the eyes rather than having a stack of gaskets. And for those with the means, I'm sure a cast v5 plenum is much easier on the eyes than a billet piece.
Whatever route you guys go, expect to see similar gains with all products(still iffy with the ideas of stacking gaskets though).
It's whatever's best for your wallet.
