With everything that I have done not just with Grubbs but in the past exaust is always the first place to start. The z/g both need a little help in the dept. The Y pipe is the most restrictive portion of either cars exaust not just because of the tubing diameter but the degree and the manner of the bends.
The most import thing I could stress is what ever you do in the back you have to do in the front. The cars are optimal for the way they are off the production line , as it it with all cars, what mods you do depends on what direction you go and were you want your power.
For instance on an FI car all things being equal except for the exaust both having the same vendor exaust and cats the only difference being factory manifold or aftermarket header. I will make more power with the factory manifold everytime because with the factory manifold boost pressure is mantained. Were as the header flows more efficiant during overlap some pressure is lost or scavenged out the back. Until I up the boost level to equal the amount lost (will say 8lbs here) then I will be able to make more power with the the header over the oem manifold.
I just want to stress the point what you do for one you have to do for the other. Cars now days as we all know are so much more refined than the older hotrod so lots of resaerch has to go into the products that are made to change how they perform. Thow I am no engineer,YET, or scientist I abide by Newtons first law ,well kinda' what goes up must come down just like what goes in must come out.
So by that token becarefull what you eat it may come out the wrong end
