Default Heating System Sucks

It's cold again here in the Northeast and I'm realizing that the heating doesn't too well in my coupe. Also when in Front/Foot air mode (temp = 90) and fan on max, the fan never blows out a lot of air from the front vents.

I'm not sure if it's just my coupe but it's really annoying that my 91' Corolla with 227K miles heats up much much faster. And with the same Front/foot (temp = max) and full fan setup as above, the front vents blow way more air then my coupe.

Should I complain to the dealer or just live with it?

You can only recreate this setup in Manual mode. In auto/econ modes, it will never be in Front/Foot mode (it stays on foot only mode), which is another design flaw.

Well I can tell you my 6mt sedan takes forever to warm up without the rear vents. Do the coupe 6mt's also omit the rear vents?

The '03-'04 6mt sedan omits the rear-seat heater ducts under front seats that are found on the 5at sedans...not sure about the '05.

My Coupe also takes forever to heat up.

It will blow heat out after a few minutes, but the cabin doesn't get really warm for like 25 minutes.

I noticed it really badly this past weekend, when I started my car up.........drove 20 miles to my cousins house with the heat on full blast the whole time. When my cousin got in the car, the first thing he said was......"Shit...dude aren't you cold? Turn the heat on in here!".

My 1990 240SX pumps out heat like a madman after a mere 5 minutes of the engine running.

The 2005 heats up fine. I switch the seats to high heat and the temp to 90 deg on vent/feet & fan on low until the car warms up, then adjust fan to a higher speed. Car will warm up quickly.

My coupe heats up very quickly when I use only the vents and not the foot option. When I switch to both vents/feet the air seems to get colder...really weird. I also don't turn the heat on until the engine is almost at operating temp, then I blast it and within minutes the inside is warm Agreed that a heated steering wheel should come with the heated seats.

Also, try setting to re-circulate rather than outside air source.

Umm, enabling the re-circulate option turns on the AC (yet another flaw with the HVAC). Actually this is the only way to get the fan to blow more air out. However, the AC compressor comes on and wastes gas...

PS THAT issue has already been discussed:
http://www.6mt.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=106651

I really hate this Automatic climate control. I wish I could get the manual HVAC system in my freakin Corolla ported over to the coupe.

that's most cars becasue its most efficient to heat from the bottom because heat rises so it's definitely not a flaw.

my 03 heats up quickly enough in auto mode and even though the A/C light comes on, that doesn't mean you're going to get cold air, it just comes on whenever you're in auto mode for those of you who get nervous when u see that... this is also common to many cars...or at least my old land cruisers and my friends 4runner
